"Evolution Siding did a recent replacement siding project for us at our house. Brandon and his crew were excellent. Even though our project was small, Brandon did everything we asked for in a timely manner. His work was very detailed and he did not waste any materials. His pricing was very competitive and they cleaned up at the end of both days. Brandon was great to deal with and communicated well. I would highly recommend Brandon, his crew, and Evolution Siding for your next project."

"James from Beantown was prompt, all communications were polite, clear and friendly. He was honest about not knowing if he could guarantee the Hardie siding against woodpeckers but he gave me his list of references. The third call connected me with someone who also had woodpecker problems with wood siding. He confirmed that since the installation of Hardie concrete fiber siding, there has been no further woodpecker problem. Once convinced that this product would help resolve our issue, the process was smooth and fast. Contract signed, work started in 6 days and finished in 2. Excellent worksmanship (product appears almost seamless) and thorough clean up after the job. Our old house has settled and windows are crooked. The workmen cut in around them with good precision. We will have the opposite end of the house sided in the spring and will hire Beantown again to do it."

"United Home was excellent.  They are very professional and really know what to do.  Our roof had been done by a builder iin 2007 and we had leaks and mold issue.  United stripped the roof, took off all plywood with mold and put new roof on.  They were very quick and were wonderful.  In my opinion there is no one better.  Their knowledge about all products, be it roofing, or siding or windows, etc. is exceptional. "

"Golden Group recently installed a new roof on our house. We had investigated several other roofing contractors but Golden Group was our choice based on their responsiveness and the quality of work that we saw on other roofs they had done in our area. Their work proposal was comprehensive and detailed, and the price was in-line with others we had received. Freddy is a nice guy; he is friendly, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable. He patiently worked with us from start to finish, answering our many questions and offering helpful suggestions. We especially like the fact that once the job started Freddy was on site with the team and kept us updated on progress and made sure we agreed with design choices they were making. The job took just over three days (in addition to the roof they also replaced the trim on the house). They did a good job cleaning up afterwards. In the end, they did what they said they were going to do, the work quality was excellent, and there were no extra or hidden costs. The entire experience of working with Freddy and the rest of the team was completely positive and I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for quality workmanship and materials. Description of work: - Remove two layers of old shingles - Install ice and water shield 9 feet on all eves - Install ice and water shield 3 feet on all rakes - Install ice and water shield against siding transition, chimney, pipe boots, other transitions - Install underlayment on all other exposed roof deck - Install aluminum drip edge - Install starter strips on all roof edges - Install Certainteed Landmark TL shingles - Install Certainteed Shadow Ridge Caps - Install new flashings on wall transitions - Re-flash and re-lead chimney - Replace pipe boots - Install new PVC trim boards on whole house - Clean up all debris in yard - Remove scrap using supplied dumpster - File permits at town hall"

"We had Patriot replace our roof; replace all the siding, trim, gutters and downspouts; replace all the windows in the house; and rebuild the front porch. This was a huge project and Patriot did an excellent job, even in the face of COVID-related shortages. Jim and Paulo were great to work with, they worked so hard to make sure we were satisfied with all the work. The crew who did our siding and porch - the guys who were here day in and day out during the project - were such hard-working and detail-oriented guys. The finished product turned out beautifully, our house came out looking so great that both neighbors and random people driving by have stopped to comment on it!"

"The experience was very stressful. The siding crew was very rough on our 1774 home. They damaged portions of the trim, a window, and the metal roof. I had to constantly monitor the crew to make sure they minimized damage and completed the work correctly. It was difficult communicating with the Spanish-speaking crew. Materials are in my yard that still have not been picked up 2 weeks later. The finished siding looks good, but that is the best complement I can make. I had doors replaced by Power on a previous job and was very satisfied. I would be cautious recommending Power for siding replacement on a similar old house."

Siding questions, answered by experts

The average cost to install stucco siding on a home is around $5,700, with most homeowners paying between $2,200 and $9,100. However, the total cost can range from $750 to as high as $22,750 depending on several factors. On average, you can expect to pay between $7 and $9 per square foot. Key cost factors include the size and complexity of your home, the desired color and texture, labor and material costs in your area, and whether you have a multi-story home. Specific applications have different costs, such as adding stucco over brick ($7 per square foot) or over wood siding ($8.50 per square foot). To save money, you can consider removing the old siding yourself or scheduling the installation during the off-season.

Yes, you can install siding over stucco, but it's crucial to ensure the stucco is in good condition first. Before proceeding, inspect the stucco for any signs of damage, leaks, or mold growth. If you discover water damage, mold, or have ongoing leak issues, it's recommended to remove the stucco completely. This step prevents future problems like mold and pest infestations and allows a professional to repair or replace any damaged sheathing underneath. If the stucco is sound, the installation process involves attaching furring strips to the wall's framing directly through the stucco. The new siding is then installed onto these furring strips. A professional may also need to adjust window and door openings to prevent them from being recessed behind the new siding, which can cause aesthetic issues and create potential leak points.

Fiber cement shingle siding is made from a blend of common ingredients, including cement, sand, water, and wood or cellulose fibers. The composition of the mixture varies depending on the manufacturer, however, with some makers opting to include special additives to improve longevity and resilience, and some include dyes and pigments to create custom colors that don’t require painting.

Stucco is considered a type of cladding because it includes a built-in ventilation layer, a weatherproof membrane beneath that, and, often, a layer of insulation to improve building efficiency. The multiple layers of stucco—the scratch coat, the brown coat, and the finish coat—also create a more complex building membrane, so it’s more accurate to call it cladding. However, homeowners and contractors alike refer to stucco as siding.

New siding improves curb appeal, insulation, and protection from moisture and pests.
