"This is the third project that EA Masonry has completed for us and as the other two projects went, this was top notch as expected. Dan and his guys demo’d a huge, old concrete patio and stairs along with clearing out numerous overgrown bushes. They installed a new patio and walkway along with two sets of entry stairs. The craftsmanship from EA Masonry is incredible and we recommend them to everyone we know who needs any type of masonry work done. You will not be disappointed."

"Excellent service. The job changed on site due to rocks in the way. They cut them out and finished the install. The land edges they filed in nicely so it looked manicured! Done quickly and professionally. The crew was very nice. Definitely will hire again. Cost was appropriate and less than many other estimates i got. So very pleased!"

"Andre responded to my inquiry very quickly, came down, and gave us an estimate within a couple of days. We own a 135-year-old house, and an outside retaining wall was in serious need of attention. His crew arrived even earlier than scheduled, and got right to work. In an area where access was a bit tricky, they worked carefully, methodically, and deliberately. A crew of three stayed past sunset and finished an estimated two-day job, rebuilding over 100 sq. ft. of very old stone wall in one (long) day! Andre's men were very courteous, professional and accommodating, and the result was even better than I had hoped for! Andre came down personally, at the end of the day, to be sure that we were happy with the job, and even pitched in with cleanup! We were so happy with Elite Stone Work's professionalism, quality, customer service, and very reasonable pricing, that we have already hired them to install a paver sidewalk for us, as soon as their schedule, and the weather, allow! I would recommend Elite Stone Works, without reservation, for any masonry project, and will definitely hire them again!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Cutting stone comes with a number of safety hazards. First and foremost, if you’re not comfortable with the equipment required to cut stone, including blades and grinders, you could easily injure yourself. The heavy machinery also poses a risk to your ears if you don’t wear proper ear protection; similarly, you need to wear eye protection to keep debris from irritating your eyes.

However, the biggest risk from cutting stone comes from the stone dust. When breathed in, stone dust can be a huge hazard to your lungs. Always wear a face mask when cutting stone to prevent inhaling stone dust, and thoroughly clean the work area when you are finished.

To avoid injury, we recommend hiring a stone-cutting professional, rather than attempting this job yourself.

Stone veneer siding is approximately four times less expensive than stone because it's made of concrete and aggregates instead of natural stone. But veneer looks like real stone, is easier to install, and acts as a great, durable siding option.

Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

Yes, it is usually possible to repair a damaged brick mailbox. A professional brick mason or masonry contractor can perform the repairs. They can assess the damage, provide an estimate, and help you determine if the repair is worthwhile based on the mailbox's value and the extent of the damage. The repair process may involve sourcing replacement bricks and mortar. Damaged bricks can be cut out and replaced, or the mortar joints can be cut out and retucked. It's important to note that the new mortar may differ in color from the original. If the mailbox insert itself is damaged, it can typically be cut out and replaced as well. If your brick mailbox has been completely destroyed, you should check with your local building code enforcement office before rebuilding, as some areas do not allow brick mailboxes due to the potential hazard they pose to drivers.
