"The technicians showed up the next day to give us a quote, and then (once we agreed to the quote) they were able to start work immediately (same day). They installed a chimney cap, sealed two other old chimney pipes (no longer in use), sealed the stone of the chimney itself and also installed a flexible crown seal. It was more than we thought to have done on the chimney, but the peace of mind is worth it. They finished in about 1.5 hours and did a great job. Would hire again."

"I called Horizon after moving into a new home in Medway and having no idea what condition the chimney was in. They sent a team out the same day! The guys were great - very friendly and professional. They looked everything over, informed us that one chimney needed to be cleaned but the other did not, and some of the brick work was loose on the fireplace floor. I also requested a chimney cap and they suggested strengthening part of the chimney before installing. They provided an estimate within 24 hours and came out about a week later to do the work. Again, they were completely professional, pleasant and somehow despite cleaning the chimney and doing masonry work, did not create any dust or mess in the house. I was so pleased that I asked them to put us on a yearly schedule for routine cleaning. I highly recommend!"

"Bobby was our technician and he was awesome. He came out early (after calling to ensure that was okay) went to work quickly and efficiently and didn't waste time, though he was friendly and took time to make friends with my dog and baby. One chimney he squared away quickly. The second one that vents the furnace had some concerns on the outside as the terra cotta outlet had a lot of cracks and the previous owner had not capped it. Upon sweeping and inspecting it, huge chunks of the liner began to rain down and one who area was stuck, blocking the flue. It was a mess and I suspect ended up being a lot more work than poor Bobby anticipated. But, he stuck with it, fixed the mess, and very gently/kindly let us know that we would definitely need a repair there for safety reasons. We weren't suprised when we saw the shape the liner was in. We got a quote for that work as well as a place in the que today. For several hours of work, 2 chimney caps, fixing a stuck flue in one chimney and all the work I just detailed on the other one, the bill was around 1100. I would also note that every time I spoke with them on the phone they were super nice, kind, and accomodating."

"They did a great job. Respectful, on-time, gave me an honest assessment of my chimney...I will be calling them again for my annual cleaning and servicing. They even took pictures of my chimney and sent them along with a service report in an email so I could have a reference."

"I had a rusted-out damper in my chimney. I contacted several companies and got estimates for the work, which included removing the rusted damper and replacing the chimney cap with a new stainless steel cap. 5 Star had the best price by far, and had a lot of experience doing this work. The gentleman who came out and gave me the estimate was very nice and very knowledgeable, answering all my questions. Scheduling the work was easy and they were able to accommodate my work schedule. The work was done this morning. They were very clean, showed me how to use the new chimney cap, and even cleaned out the chimney. They were in and out in less than an hour and the price was as estimated."

"These guys did an outstanding job.  Prompt, professional, honest, friendly, kept a neat work site, beautiful work and had an excellent price.  My house was built in 1906 and the old chimney above the roofline was in pretty rough shape - ready to come down.  I had four different companies that I found on Angies List come over and give estimates.  Rich was the first person to come for an estimate and ultimately the one I chose.  His estimate was lower than the competition and gave a good first impression.  They came over a couple weeks later to do the rebuild and I couldn't be more pleased.  They were here for two days, always here when they said they would be and immediately set-up staging to demolish the old chimney.  The new chimney is beautiful - they used nice looking bricks and installed a nice cap.  It's a brand new chimney, but it looks like it's always been here.  I would highly recommend these guys.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

No, you can’t install just any microwave over your range. You have to get a specific type of microwave known as an over-the-range unit. These include venting and lighting features that you’ll need above your stovetop.

Although countertop units are more affordable, they won’t work for this type of installation. To avoid hazardous conditions in your kitchen, buy the right type of microwave for your needs.

Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.

Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.

Ensures safe electrical connections and proper venting, improving kitchen air quality.
