"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"Simon was amazing. Arrived when he said he would for an estimate and turned it around in about a week with the job completed. The team went above and beyond to assure I was happy. They moved and replanted flowers and plants that were encroaching my neighbors property and enlarged the garden by a few feet to accommodate the relocated planting’s . They returned the next week to add more stones for the garden edge because they ran out due to the extra feet of garden. Highly recommend Eddie and Simon! You will not be disappointed."

"I was happy to call Rodolfo again after an excellent experience with him two years ago and I’m pleased to report that he has not changed! I called Rodolfo on a Tuesday, he came to do an estimate on Wednesday, and the job was completed by Thursday afternoon. Like last time, the workmanship was perfect and the price was less than I had anticipated. Rodolfo came by at the beginning and end of the day but Jose handled most of the job on his own and was polite and pleasant to have here. This was a small job but we were eager to get it done quickly and Rodolfo once again delivered. I can’t recommend him enough."

"This was a great experience; Gabe and his crew were thoroughly professional, and took great care and pride in their work. Their estimate was in the middle of several that we received, but no one could have done more. They sanded and painted our gutters and downspouts, which no other contractor offered. The work went quickly with a crew of four, and they were extremely careful with our plantings and cleaned up every day before they left. Gabe constantly checked with us to make sure we were happy, which we were. They used the highest quality materials and cut no corners, even though we negotiated on price. The house looks great now -- better than any previous paint job."

"My wife and I needed some major paining done to our new condominium unit. The walls are 22’ high so we needed someone with experience. We called JMC for an estimate and Justin showed up, took measurements and assured us it would be easy for him and his crew to get it done in two days. We trusted him because you know within 20 seconds of meeting him that he is a man of integrity. It was the best decision we made because Justin is not only thorough, prompt and efficient but he’s also one the nicest people we’ve ever met. He and his crew are so considerate and professional that I know we will never use another painter again. We could not recommend JMC Painting more! They are the best. Thank you Justin and your team for making our place look brand new! Mike & Krissy Roberts"

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.
