"In 2016 I hired Paul Foley Electric to install a Kohler generator on my property. Paul and his crew were professional, neat and did a first class installation. I have been very pleased with my purchase and the yearly maintenance service that Premier Generator provides. Premier Generator is part of Paul Foley Electric. I can honestly highly recommend these two companies."

Customers say: True professional

"I just had an electrical job done by Sean at my house in Mashpee and I honestly cannot say enough good things about him and his company. He gave me a reasonable quote for what I needed done and then communicated with me by email, phone and text to make sure I understood the job and knew what would be happening next. He had to coordinate the job with Eversource which was not easy at all, but he kept at them. He apologized to me several times for how Eversource kept rescheduling when it wasn’t his fault at all. When the day came to have it done, Sean and his crew were on time, got right to work and were very professional. And they always took their shoes off before coming in the house! The job was inspected by the town, which he coordinated, and it was done right and passed. I definitely recommend them and I will be using them again myself!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Dennis offers a range of electrical specialists, including residential and commercial electricians, marine electrical contractors familiar with salt-air challenges, and solar installation experts. Some focus on historic home rewiring, generator setups, or pool and spa systems. Many serve neighborhoods like Dennis Port and West Dennis, and some cater to seasonal or vacation rental properties, addressing the specific needs of Cape Cod homeowners and property managers.

Helpful?

In Dennis, electrical upgrades can impact HVAC systems, sump pumps, well equipment, and smart home features. Adding a new panel or circuit may be necessary for heat pumps or electric vehicle chargers, especially in older Cape homes. Renovations in kitchens or bathrooms often require coordination with plumbing and ventilation. Always ask your electrician how changes might affect interconnected systems, ensuring your home remains safe and up to code.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Dennis often overlook the need for marine-grade wiring and weatherproof fixtures due to salty air. Skipping surge protection, especially with frequent storms, is another common error. Some attempt DIY work without proper permits, risking code violations. Others hire non-local electricians unfamiliar with Cape Cod’s unique requirements, or neglect to upgrade panels to support modern appliances in older homes, leading to future safety concerns.

Helpful?

When comparing quotes in Dennis, watch for missing permit details, vague timelines, or a lack of written scope. Be wary if a contractor requests large upfront payments, avoids providing proof of insurance, or hesitates to share references from Cape Cod clients. If a quote doesn’t address coastal electrical issues, like corrosion resistance, or seems unusually low, it may signal shortcuts or inexperience with local conditions.

Helpful?

In Dennis, signs like rust on electrical panels, outlets that feel warm to the touch, or flickering lights during damp weather can indicate underlying moisture or salt-related damage. Frequent GFCI resets, burning odors, or buzzing sounds from outlets often point to wiring problems. If your home has outdated fuse boxes or original cloth wiring, even minor issues can quickly escalate into major repairs if not addressed promptly.
