"The first Nor'easter of 2018 is brewing outside with potential for power outages because of 60 to 70 mile an hour winds. Yet, I'm not worried because I have this beautiful, powerful Kohler 20RESD generator sitting outside. Paul and his very professional crew installed the generator in June of last year, and it has already saved my cellar from flooding four times. First time was while I was on a trip to Europe for two weeks last summer. I have a sump pump that is running every 30 minutes, even on the driest days of August. What this generator is giving me is a huge piece of mind. Before installing the generator, we always worried if we went away, even just for a weekend. Now I almost look forward to coming home and checking if the generator kicked in while we were away. Paul and his crew - Kenney, Bill, and Adam - were very professional, and other than having this 'beautiful' generator sitting outside, there are no signs of them even being here. They were impeccable in cleaning up the work area, both outside and in the cellar. Paul was very patient with us, even with several design/location changes. He handled everything from constructing the generator pad, to final inspection, and first startup of the generator. Paul Foley Electric is truly a 'turnkey' operation, as Paul also handled the installation, and inspection of an in-ground propane tank. All of the other contractors that I had contacted did not offer this, leaving me to find someone to install the tank. I highly recommend Paul Foley Electric Co., Inc."

Customers say: True professional

"I just had an electrical job done by Sean at my house in Mashpee and I honestly cannot say enough good things about him and his company. He gave me a reasonable quote for what I needed done and then communicated with me by email, phone and text to make sure I understood the job and knew what would be happening next. He had to coordinate the job with Eversource which was not easy at all, but he kept at them. He apologized to me several times for how Eversource kept rescheduling when it wasn’t his fault at all. When the day came to have it done, Sean and his crew were on time, got right to work and were very professional. And they always took their shoes off before coming in the house! The job was inspected by the town, which he coordinated, and it was done right and passed. I definitely recommend them and I will be using them again myself!"

"Springer Electric team ( Dave, Nick, Zack) worked at my home doing full upgrade of all electrical on my basement. Additionally added outlets, fixed light fixtures and added over 7 smoke carbon alarms. They did a superior job! They show up on time and on schedule. They are all professional, respectful, efficient, knowledgeable and very experienced. They cover the floors and do a thorough cleanup too. I have had them do work on my home over the last 15 years. Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Harwich’s coastal environment, prioritize corrosion-resistant wiring like THWN-2 or XHHW copper, and use marine-grade panels for added durability. Outdoor fixtures should have an IP65 or higher rating to withstand salt air and moisture. Stainless steel or brass hardware and applying dielectric grease to exterior connections help prevent rust and ensure long-term reliability in Harwich’s climate.

Helpful?

In Harwich, electrical issues often appear as breakers tripping, outlets sparking, or lights dimming when appliances run—especially in older Cape homes. Corrosion or rust on outdoor outlets and panels is a clear sign of electrical concern due to the coastal air. If you hear buzzing or smell burning, contact an electrician immediately. For plumbing or HVAC issues, consult those specialists, but always address electrical safety first.

Helpful?

In Harwich, electrical project timelines depend on your home’s age, project size, and local demand. Panel upgrades typically require 1–2 days, while whole-house rewiring in older Cape homes may take up to a week. Smaller jobs like outlet installation are often completed within hours. Seasonal factors, such as winter storms or busy summer schedules, can also impact how quickly electricians are available.

Helpful?

When planning electrical work in Harwich, always factor in the need for permits and inspections, which are required for most upgrades. The coastal climate means salt air and humidity can accelerate corrosion, so regular maintenance is crucial. Spring and fall are ideal for scheduling, as summer demand is high. For older homes, consider necessary upgrades, and check if conservation rules affect exterior or underground wiring.

Helpful?

In Harwich, schedule electrical work if you notice flickering lights during storms, frequent breaker trips, or corrosion on outlets and panels. Homes with aluminum wiring or panels over 25 years old often need updates. Planning to add major appliances or preparing for hurricane season are also good reasons to book a local electrician, especially during spring or fall when scheduling is easier.
