"The first Nor'easter of 2018 is brewing outside with potential for power outages because of 60 to 70 mile an hour winds. Yet, I'm not worried because I have this beautiful, powerful Kohler 20RESD generator sitting outside. Paul and his very professional crew installed the generator in June of last year, and it has already saved my cellar from flooding four times. First time was while I was on a trip to Europe for two weeks last summer. I have a sump pump that is running every 30 minutes, even on the driest days of August. What this generator is giving me is a huge piece of mind. Before installing the generator, we always worried if we went away, even just for a weekend. Now I almost look forward to coming home and checking if the generator kicked in while we were away. Paul and his crew - Kenney, Bill, and Adam - were very professional, and other than having this 'beautiful' generator sitting outside, there are no signs of them even being here. They were impeccable in cleaning up the work area, both outside and in the cellar. Paul was very patient with us, even with several design/location changes. He handled everything from constructing the generator pad, to final inspection, and first startup of the generator. Paul Foley Electric is truly a 'turnkey' operation, as Paul also handled the installation, and inspection of an in-ground propane tank. All of the other contractors that I had contacted did not offer this, leaving me to find someone to install the tank. I highly recommend Paul Foley Electric Co., Inc."

Customers say: True professional

"I just had an electrical job done by Sean at my house in Mashpee and I honestly cannot say enough good things about him and his company. He gave me a reasonable quote for what I needed done and then communicated with me by email, phone and text to make sure I understood the job and knew what would be happening next. He had to coordinate the job with Eversource which was not easy at all, but he kept at them. He apologized to me several times for how Eversource kept rescheduling when it wasn’t his fault at all. When the day came to have it done, Sean and his crew were on time, got right to work and were very professional. And they always took their shoes off before coming in the house! The job was inspected by the town, which he coordinated, and it was done right and passed. I definitely recommend them and I will be using them again myself!"

"Springer Electric team ( Dave, Nick, Zack) worked at my home doing full upgrade of all electrical on my basement. Additionally added outlets, fixed light fixtures and added over 7 smoke carbon alarms. They did a superior job! They show up on time and on schedule. They are all professional, respectful, efficient, knowledgeable and very experienced. They cover the floors and do a thorough cleanup too. I have had them do work on my home over the last 15 years. "An upcoming two-week trip to Europe, made it imperative that we complete the project before our departure just weeks away.. While other potential contractors said that there wasn't enough time to do the work, FM accepted the time challenge. With the personal intervention of CEO Julie Ward, FM provided the 12 kw Briggs and Stratton generator and oversaw the difficult plumbing and electrical components of the installation. FM not only met the time target, but also delivered quality work by experienced professionals. Angie's list was right to put FM at the top of its recommended companies for generator purchase and installation! Mike Hager, Eastham, MA"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The longevity of electrical work in Chatham depends on using marine-grade wiring, weatherproof electrical panels, and sealed conduit to resist salt air and humidity. Ensuring all connections are protected from moisture and corrosion is crucial. Regularly inspecting for rust or wear, and hiring a licensed electrician familiar with coastal homes, helps electrical systems withstand Chatham’s storms and harsh climate for many years.

Helpful?

In Chatham, watch for rust on electrical panels, greenish corrosion on wiring, or moisture inside outlets—these are early signs of salt air damage. Frequent circuit breaker trips, flickering lights during storms, or a burning smell from outlets signal deeper issues. Addressing these warning signs promptly can prevent major electrical failures and protect your home from costly repairs in the future.

Helpful?

Completing electrical projects in Chatham offers immediate improvements in safety and code compliance, especially important for coastal homes exposed to storms. Over time, you’ll see increased energy efficiency, higher property value, and enhanced storm preparedness. Upgrading your electrical system also supports future home improvements and can make your property more appealing to renters or buyers in Chatham’s competitive real estate market.

Helpful?

In Chatham, electrical work can impact interconnected systems like well pumps, HVAC, or security alarms, especially if they share circuits or the main electrical panel. If you’re planning upgrades or repairs, review your panel labels and ask a professional to trace which circuits serve multiple systems. This helps prevent accidental outages and ensures all essential home systems remain operational during electrical work.

Helpful?

Electrical systems in Chatham benefit from annual inspections for corrosion, especially on outdoor panels and connections. Test GFCI outlets monthly and clean any visible salt residue from exterior fixtures. After storms, check surge protectors and breaker panels for moisture or damage. Seasonal maintenance, including tightening connections and inspecting for rust, helps your system handle Chatham’s changing weather and keeps your home safe year-round.
