"The job couldn't have gone more smoothly. April, in the office, initially allowed me to provide pictures and measurements in order to guide the determination of the appropriate size, thus eliminating the delay of waiting for someone to come out to measure. It was quickly determined that the size was a standard one and the panes were ordered that same day. The installers came out within the same week to install. They were professional and courteous ... and did an excellent job. They even cleaned the doors (both the two panes they repaired and the two they didn't) so that the entire glass wall looks absolutely clear."

"He custom made etched side lights for my front entry. They are stunning and I couldn't be happier. I did a lot of research and was happy from beginning of the process to the end. They came back to me with every detail for my approval."

"Chris put new tile on our mudroom floor in our 94 year old house. Chris was extremely easy to work with, very upfront about pricing and worked with us while we manage COVID with our 2 young kids. The tile looks great and Chris did a great job managing our not so straight and not so flat old house. Highly skilled easy to work with professional."

"Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling has been great. I recommend them very highly. They were fantastic to work with. While we just wanted our bathroom redone, our 103-year-old building demanded more work and created challenges which were not expect. Bay State Refinishing and Remodeling addressed them all. First, the bathroom turned out better than expected and Bay State put together a great team: David, Yuri (Supervisors), Darly (tile guy), Marcio (carpenter), Jonathan (electrician), David "Mr. Fix It" (plumber) and Paul (glass guy). They even brought in a painter and someone to sand our floors at the last minute at our request. We had major issues that were unexpected and needed to be addressed like decaying joists, plumbing that was falling apart, and knob and tube wiring that had to be replaced. They addressed all of these unexpected issues and built us a beautiful new bathroom. During the project, we decided to have the wiring in our entire condo redone for safety reasons, which they did quickly. This included the tearing down of two ceilings and then a third one when it was determined it might come down at some point on its own. They seemed to do it all, and we only had to find another place to stay for three nights due to the bedroom ceiling that was close to falling and the floor work. They went above and beyond what we expected and although we had to pay for the extra work we added, the bathroom came in on budget. I am glad we went with them!"

"I brought my 2009 Toyota Camry to Tint King. They tinted all four doors and the back window. I chose their better quality product as I plan to have this car along time. The job took about and hour and a half. I waited onsite. It looks great. Real nice job. However the inside of my trunk was soaking wet after the job. Not sure how that happened but  I wish they would have cleaned up after themselves. I kinda wish that I had chosen a darker tint for the back doors and window but it is hard to tell how it is going to look until its done. I am happy with the job. It has been 3 months and no problems. The car looks great. If you go there they are around the back of the building at a garage bay not in the office part of the building.

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Regular cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners helps prevent buildup and maintains clarity.

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.
