Fred and his small, family-run team carefully removed, dipped, stripped and completely restored all the amazing original windows in our home. The windows were falling apart from decades of neglect when we bought our house a few years ago. We debated replacing them, but each sash has three panes of stained glass above two panes of clear glass, much of that original (probably cylinder glass). Also, the five windows on the first floor are over six feet tall, with the windows on the second floor maybe a foot shorter. Point being, any new window would have to be custom made, and it is highly unlikely we could find, let alone afford, a carpenter to custom design and build fourteen huge, double sash windows with stained glass. So I found Fred off a Google search. He came to see the windows and his enthusiasm for the windows' craftsmanship and confidence that he could restore them, and that full restoration would cost a fraction of replacement, won us over immediately. Fred clearly explained his process and our options and sent various estimates so we could decide what we wanted to do. Our windows are amazing. The sash chains are all new and work without issue. All the old, chipped, falling apart glaze is gone and replaced. And the wood is the best part. Many of the windows were literally falling part from dry rot. Thanks to the skillful application of epoxy and stain, the windows shine. Fred answered all our questions, recommended a great place for window hardware, and did excellent work on the windows and jambs. Full restoration can easily take two months. Fred has a small operation, does high quality work, and is in high demand. Be patient and you won't be disappointed.

The work went as described. We have a Victorian house with many original windows. We had the rope pulls replaced with chain, seals added to the windows and the windows restored. The crew was knowledgeable and easy to work with. The windows looked like new windows when they finished.

My condo is part of a 4 unit building that was built in 1900. My windows needed replacing but because new windows wouldn't match the other windows in the building. Where the windows were original to the building, difficult to open/close and extremely drafty, I looked for alternatives which is when I found window restoration a possibility. FPP provided an estimate which I thought was reasonably priced. He was able to do 4 windows at a time so, financially, that was helpful. I decided to have the living room windows restored first, during the Fall, and I'd test to see how they held up against winter drafts. I was so impressed by the work as it substantially reduced drafts to the point when I had guests over, they would remark that, for once, they were actually WARM while sitting in my living room. I did the other 4 windows during the Spring. I found FPP extremely prompt and professional. They worked very diligently finishing the work on time or even earlier than estimated. It took less than a day for each set of windows. They mostly worked outside and picked up after themselves. I highly recommend FPP and have suggested to other unit owners in my building that restored windows is a good alternative to replacement windows that doesn't impact the building esthetics.

Fred and his team were friendly, efficient, trustworthy, and skilled. Fred took plenty of time to explain what they were doing and why. He even toured my house and gave me advice on unrelated projects. He was easy to contact and quick to respond. They were respectful of my home and did a very thorough job. I had been considering buy new windows to replace my 100+ year old windows, but I am glad I went with FPP - better aesthetic, much faster, way cheaper.

FPP did a great job restoring 4 LR windows which were very drafty. The windows were most likely the original ones when the house was built in the early 1900s and, more than likely, did not receive much attention for several decades. Fred's team was very experienced, quiet, courteous and worked very quickly finishing the 4 windows in less time than originally anticipated. They cleaned up after they finished their work as well. Over the winter, there was considerable difference where the drafts were markedly reduced and my heating bills were lower than in previous winters. I have hired them to come do my remaining windows this Spring.

We originally planned on repairing only the windows (8 to 10) that were not working properly, but ended up doing all 17 windows in our condo. Fred Sullivan and his crew did a wonderful job, working neatly and efficiently to complete the job in 4 days. The work included: --Remove window sash from openings, sand sash stiles, jambs, spot glaze glass, clean sight lines. Refurbish old pulleys. --Cean, repair, cut and install gaskets to Top, meeting and bottom rails of sash for improved alignment and energy efficiency. --Install Chain, and cushion bronze weather seal to all double-hung frame windows, for affection weatherizing. --Install New Parting Beads --Silicone Weather seal storm windows for weather efficiency

It went really well. Fred and his crew came in and spent the day and between the two units restored four windows. I am forgetting all the terms of what was used to restore the windows but they look great, they work really well, no more propping up with curtain rods. It went really well. Will have to bring Fred and his crew back for the other two windows.

Fred was knowledgeable and respectful in talking about the problems and clearly explained what he could do. He responded to emails to clarify and modify the contract. He and his team arrived on time, left the area clean. The windows work very well and for the first time will not allow draft to enter. Fred suggested ways that I could maintain the windows. He also returned promptly when I needed some minor scratches repaired.

The three-man crew spent a day restoring functionality to four original windows on the second floor of our 1888 house.  They removed the upper and lower sashes from each window, reglazed the exterior glass to clean up the sight lines, improved the interior movement of the windows by sanding the sash stiles, cleaned and lubricated existing pulleys, replaced the broken ropes with chains, and installed bronze weather seal and parting beads.
The process necessarily creates a certain amount of noise and dust, but the crew took measures to mitigate the dust by covering other furniture and surfaces with plastic sheeting.  Their clean up was complete with nothing left behind. Our windows now work beautifully, and I would definitely hire FPP again. It was a pleasure to work with them.

From start to finish, Fred and his team were fantastic. As the reviews consistently say, Fred is fair & accurate in his pricing, and careful & clean in his work.
During our initial meeting, Fred walked the house with me and inspected each window, making note of unique situations he would need to handle during the repair work. He left me with a verbal estimate at the end of our meeting which was within 5% of the formal estimate he would deliver to me within 48 hours, as promised.
During the week of work, Fred arrived by 8:30am each day of the project and departed by 3:30pm. Despite the amount of sanding and cleaning, Fred's crew did an excellent job limited the spread of dirt & dust.
Fred completed the job in just under 4 full days as he planned.
I did not fully appreciate the quality of Fred's work until I saw the windows for myself. By replacing the sash (rope) cord with chain and staining the inner frame, each window took on a look of quality and elegance that was truly a surprise.
We are contemplated undertaking a Second Phase with FPP in Spring 2016, consisting of removing, stripping and refinishing each sash.

Fred and crew were excellent - a gem found!  We are so happy with the job.  Fred works quietly and with expert care and knowledge about the history of old houses - he is a rare craftsman.  He knows all sorts of places to get replacement glass and other adornments for the windows - at low cost!  The quality of the work is beyond outstanding.  He brought life back to our windows that were really in bad shape.  The house is late 1800's.  We contemplated installing high end wooden windows but have been hearing about how they disintegrate as the wood used to manufacture them can never match the durability and quality of wood over 100 years old!  Also noted - the cost of repairing and restoring our windows was half the cost!  Fred's initial consult was honest and friendly.  He worked each day from 8 in the morning until 3 or 4pm.  The clean-up was impeccable. He is the best contractor we have ever used and his son-in law who works with him, is equally skilled.  If you are looking for a craftsman who works with integrity - who is prompt - cost effective (and quick) - and really easy to have in your home - please, look no further!  He is like that "vacation spot "you don't want anyone to know about - he is that good!

This was the 2nd time we've worked with FPP Window Restoration as they repaired the 1st floor windows last year.   Our building houses an animal clinic which was operating during the whole project.  They worked around our schedule to ensure access to the clinic.  Though we planned to focus only on the 2nd floor windows this year, Fred suggested that we install the 3rd floor storms also to prevent further damage.  The windows now operate smoothly and the job was neatly done.
I would work with FPP Window Restoration again.

This was one of the most positive experiences we have had with a home repair contractor. Fred, Sergio, and David do excellent work.  We had just had the carpets cleaned before they arrived, and each of them obligingly removed their shoes every time they entered the house. Also they spread plastic dropcloths over the furniture in each room where they removed the windows for restoration.   They were efficient, clean, respectful, knowledgeable, and supremely competent. I would hire them again in a heartbeat, and we recommend them completely.

Fred, from FPP came over and quickly determined that the bedroom window was improperly set.  This caused an opening that was letting air in.  He quickly fixed it and recommended a provider that sells interior window inserts.  He did all of this at no cost and will be someone I keep in mind for any future project.

Fred and his crew of 3 were great. Fred was easily reachable and maintained great communication throughout the project. He responded to emails rapidly. He and his workers were pleasant, professional, and we were comfortable having them work in the house even if we were not their. The end result is that the windows look and work great and we have much better weather-sealing than we had before.

Fred and his crew were a pleasure to work with.  We run an animal clinic which is open 6 days a week.  The FPP crew worked around our business schedule to get the repairs done in an efficient manner, while minimizing the impact on the clinic operations.  I would certainly contact them for work in the future.

Fred is a pleasure to work with- friendly, polite and respectful. I initially contacted him in 2012 but we chose not to have him do the work at that time for personal timing reasons. I reached out to Fred again this past spring and he agreed to honor his original proposal which was great. Fred is extremely knowlegable about windows and weatherization and is very efficient at what he does. The entire process, including storm window replacement, was completed in about 4 visits which would have been 3 had we not had rain.
Prior to restoration, our windows had been incredibly drafty, rattled and were out of alignment which prevented proper locking. Fred and his assistant Sergio corrected all of these problems resulting in nice snug fitting windows that glide easily, meet at the middle and all lock properly. As its July, we'll have to wait until winter to find out about drafts and energy efficiency, but I have already noticed that my a/c is running less frequently which is a good sign.
One of the distinguishing features of Fred's proposal versus the other window restoration companies was that FPP included spot glazing and cleaning the exterior sight lines. Much of our old glazing was cracked, missing or falling off but Fred and Sergio ensured that this was all corrected. While there are mechanical elements to this work (keeping the glass in place and protecting the wood, preventing drafts, etc), it is also somewhat cosmetic and I was thrilled that this work was included in the price.
We also hired Fred's assistant Sergio separately to paint the top floor windows and frames. Sergio did a fantastic job on both the painting and assisting with the window restoration and we were very pleased with his work.
Overall this was a great experience, a great investment and a great (green) alternative to window replacement. Thanks FPP!
