Matt, the owner, called me back the next day and we arranged a time for him to come and give me an estimate. He showed up exactly when he said he would, and emailed me the estimate the next day. When I hired him, he told me upfront that it would be a while before he could start due to an ongoing project he was working on. I appreciated that. When the time came for him to start, there were some delays, mainly weather related, and he was very conscientious about calling me and letting me know what was going on and when to expect them. Although the project took longer than I expected to be finished, I am very happy with the finished product. Matt is excellent at communication. He took care of all permits, and arranged all inspections. His crew was always on time. They did an excellent job cleaning up after they were done, and the finished project was fantastic. We hired this exceptional shop to replace all the old knob and tube wiring (along with switching out a number of light fixtures and installing several ceiling fans) in our 120-year-old Victorian home – a challenging job that a couple of other electricians didn’t feel confident undertaking. Owner Jack McCurdy personally came to size up the job and give us a detailed estimate, and his professionalism, courtesy and extensive knowledge sold us. What was originally thought to be a two-week job was finished in six working days as foreman Joe Costain efficiently deployed his crew and brought in a second crew on a few days to expedite the work. Joe was great at communicating what kind of activity we could expect day-to-day, especially as both my wife and I are working from home fulltime during the COVID pandemic. He and the crew checked in frequently on our preferences, minimized the number of holes in the ceilings and walls (including avoiding harming our wallpaper in a couple of rooms altogether), and cleaned up well at the end of every day. Jack’s estimate was competitive and the final accounting accurately included the additions and subtractions we agreed to during the job. We feel so much better that we’ve finally eliminated the risky knob and tube wiring and updated the entire house’s electrical system. "Overall, the finishing of my basement went pretty smooth. The Owens Corning product, drop down ceiling, and flooring are all really sharp. In the beginning everything went fast and smooth with the framing and wall/floor/ceiling install being done within 2 weeks. There were some hiccups with minor imperfections, tv mount in wrong spot, etc. Those were fixed promptly. After that is when I ran into issues with other items in my contract that were not taken care of and the project felt forgot about. Just had some minor electric work, stairs to get carpeted, and didn't receive hanging clips yet. I had to constantly ask about these items and every answer would be "I forgot to ask or send the clips". I eventually got the items completed, but am not happiest that it took almost a month and constant reminding to get these items that should've been scheduled for during the project."
