"Tatra has done a ton of work for me at multiple homes. * Install central AC * Replace boilers * Install appliances (in difficult old construction) * Create an outdoor shower and stone deck complex * Fix every little plumbing thing that goes wrong in an old house * Roof gutters and yard drainage improvement These are the one-stop shopping folks to call! "We received many, many estimates for adding AC to our existing heating system. For about the same price, several bidders said that we had to only add a condenser unit to our furnace. Some said that we had to additionally install a much larger internal coil. Bourque clearly explained the implications/options of each suggested addition. Their conclusion was to slightly upgrade our existing coil so as to more efficiently optimize the new system. This system was going in a vacation home located some distance from our primary residence. I took their proposal to my long-time, local, trusted dealer and he enthusiastically agreed with all that they proposed, while thoroughly debunking the suggestions of others. Bob Bourque was easy to work with; both he and his workers were punctual in their appointments; the installation went off smoothly.; they cleaned up after themselves. I would enthusiastically recommend this company to anyone interested in installing AC.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Unless they are connected to the same system, boilers and water heaters will both need their own expansion tanks. The only case they wouldn’t have separate expansion tanks is if the boiler is pulling double duty and managing a heating system while also supplying hot water for a home. In which case, you may not need a hot water heater.

Professionals can recommend efficient layouts or appliances and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Installing a boiler requires training, a specific skill set, and extensive experience. Boiler installation can be extremely dangerous, as it involves working with water lines, gas lines, and electricity. For this reason, it’s strongly recommended that you hire a professional to install your boiler. Some states even consider it illegal to work on a boiler without the proper licensing.

A furnace is a big unit where gas, heating oil, or electricity heats the air. The warmed air is then pushed back out through ducts and vents.

A boiler uses electricity, heating oil, or gas to heat water that is pushed into the room through a radiator. This is one of the oldest and most effective ways to heat a house, but radiators can also be unsightly and leave hot and cold spots in the room.

Heat pumps use a refrigerant to move heat from outside into the house and return it to the room through ducts and vents.

An HVAC system typically lasts between 10 and 30 years, with an average lifespan of 15 to 25 years. The longevity of the system is influenced by factors such as the quality of the unit, usage frequency, local climate, and how well it is maintained. Regular maintenance, including cleaning, filter replacements, and professional inspections, can help maximize its lifespan. Different components within the system have varying life expectancies. For example:

  • Furnaces: 15 to 30 years

  • Boilers: 20 to 35 years

  • Air Conditioners (AC units): 12 to 20 years

  • Heat Pumps: 10 to 20 years

  • Ductless Mini-Splits: 10 to 30 years
