"Remarkably well! After my initial phone conversation we set an appt. for the next day. Neil, a pest control expert arrived promptly. Listened to our concerns and proceeded to inspect every inch of the basement, including crawl space(!), each room on the 1st floor and the attic (a place that's difficult to maneuver). Checked perimeter for any points of entry. A lengthy, thorough inspection was completed to our satisfaction! Very impressed with Neil's attentiveness, professionalism and honesty. Termites are most active and cause the most damage in the spring and summer, when warm temperatures and increased moisture accelerate their activity. This is also when swarming typically occurs, allowing colonies to expand. However, termites remain active year-round, especially in warmer climates or heated homes. An established colony can continue to damage wood 365 days a year, even during cold weather.

Both spikes and loose nets can be installed over nest sites to prevent the bird from returning, but nets are not a humane option since birds and other wildlife can get tangled in them. 

Spikes are a humane alternative that deter nesting without harming the birds. In small areas, like vents, a very fine mesh net can be installed to prevent the bird from returning. These nets don't generally pose a risk to the birds.

Vinegar can be an insect repellant, as many bugs find its scent off-putting. However, vinegar is acidic and may also cause damage to any plants it comes in contact with. If you'd like to use vinegar to deter pests in your garden, be careful not to spray it directly on the plant's leaves or stems.

It's also worth noting that vinegar's effects can be short. To continue to repel bugs, you'll need to spray vinegar repeatedly. 

Although it takes time and possibly multiple treatments, roaches can be eradicated from your home. However, they can return if the conditions are right. That’s why taking the steps to prevent an infestation is key. You may also want to discuss preventative pest control treatments with your exterminator.
