Our clients include some of the finest and well-known companies and buildings in Northern New England such as Dartmouth College, Phillips Exeter Academy, University of New Hampshire, Harvard Historical Society, U.S. Coast Guard, FedEx, Target, and Walgreens. "Repeat customer who has been mistreated. Scheduled a pellet stove service appointment and had to wait a couple of months. The pellet stove was installed a few year prior by Armstrong. Stove was fully functional when tech arrived and when work was wrapped up the stove didn’t work. Tech on his way out mentioned the office would reach out to me with next steps. Dealing with single digits temperatures out door any little thing helps and now have a broken stove that doesn’t work. Two days later I hadn’t heard from their office so I sent an email inquiring what the next steps were. The admin responded stating the operations manager had our paperwork on his desk and that I am on the list. A day after that I decided to call for some information and admin gave me more of the same stating “work order is on my bosses desk, he will get back to you in a couple of days”. After persistence on my part I decided to track down the ops manager and he gave me a long story on why they weren’t communicating and basically stated again I wasn’t top priority. As a customer you shouldn’t feel like you are bothering a business that you just spent a ton of money on to get something fixed that now doesn’t work. Armstrong years ago was different and today my experience is very sour. Maybe too much business has impacted their customer service? Maybe new employee vetting is the issue? Maybe it’s the management? It’s sad to see customer service like this. Please beware.. you will reach out for help and you may or may not get it. Pay quoted money now but you’ll be back burnered the moment something else comes along."

"We had Silco install a new furnace and AC in 2016, and it was the worst decision I have ever made as a homeowner. The installation itself had numerous problems, including an intermittent electrical connection that kept the AC from working. Turned out their tech had stripped the insulation improperly, cutting the actual copper wire. They also had to recharge the AC twice, right after installing it, before they figured out it had been a faulty unit from the start - but the owner still charged me $400 for the work, despite the inconvenience of several service calls and the fact that we had no AC for the whole summer. Now, in 2020, I find out that they should have installed a holder for the filter instead of us having to jam them inside the actual furnace case, which the manufacturer specifically recommends against, AND that they should have put the furnace up on blocks to keep it from rusting, which it is starting to do. They just don't have a clue what they are doing. And they leave their empty soda cans behind for you to clean up. Stay away from this crew of incompetents."

"I hired Chase and Tolan Plumbing to service my gas steam boiler (stuck low water shutoff switch, broken sight tube, and leaky discharge valve), and replace the input shutoff valves to my washing machine and my dishwasher. They showed up promptly with three men and got the job done right and fast. I was very happy with the service, and would hire them again without hesitation."

The average cost to clean a dryer vent is around $140, but you could pay between $75 and $325, depending on the size of your dryer vent, accessibility, and how much debris is caught inside the vent. A first-floor or basement vent will usually be the most affordable to professionally clean, while a second-floor or roof vent will be more expensive due to additional equipment required for access. Your price could increase higher than these estimates if you also want an official dryer vent inspection or if your professional discovers that you need vent repairs.
Yes, dryer vent cleaning is absolutely worth the money. The service is relatively inexpensive and quick, and the value and peace of mind you get for the investment make it worthwhile. A clogged dryer vent is a significant fire risk, so the average $140 you might pay to have your dryer vent cleaned once a year could save you thousands of dollars in home repairs if the clog causes a fire. Additionally, some homeowner’s insurance companies will charge you a lower premium if you provide receipts of annual dryer vent cleanings by a professional.
Some signs of a clogged dryer vent include the following:
Your clothes take longer than usual to dry.
The exterior of your dryer gets very hot during operation.
You see lint around the area where the vent leaves your exterior wall.
You notice unusual or burning odors during dryer operation.
If you notice any of these signs, discontinue use and call a dryer vent cleaning service immediately. Neglecting a clogged dryer vent drastically increases the risk of a fire starting in your home.
It’s possible to clean out your dryer vent yourself, and it’s recommended between professional cleanings. You can disconnect the vent, remove lint and debris by hand, and then vacuum the inside of the vent hose using vacuum extensions. However, a DIY dryer vent cleaning should never replace a professional cleaning. At least once per year, you should hire a professional dryer vent cleaner to clear your dryer vent, regardless of how often you clean it yourself. This schedule will provide peace of mind and increased safety for your family and your home.
You should have your dryer vent cleaned by a professional at least once per year. Over time, lint and other debris from your laundry get caught throughout the vent, causing a few different issues. A less severe problem caused by a clogged dryer vent is extended drying time for your clothes, which increases energy costs. More importantly, lint in a clogged dryer vent can easily catch fire, putting your household members and your home at significant risk. Keep in mind that decades-old dryer vent systems may need increased cleaning, so plan to complete this task twice per year.
