"I looking into your concerns with pricing and found the following. The actual increase in price for the cleaning was around 15% which is consistent with our price increase over the last year. Additional work was done to clean the inside of the dryer blower cavity(an optional service) which was not done last year. As for the insinuation that our primary focus is to make more money, I must disagree. I can say that techs are instructed to only offer services that are they feel the customer truly needs. In the case of the vent cover, it is a dual flapper pest proof cover that is usally offered when the tech feels it would improve dryer performance and prevent future pest issues. I can relate that everyone is struggling with price increases and as a mobile service business, we have been hit especially hard and doing our best to continue to offer 5 star service at a reasonable price. "I am always very concerned when I hear of any customer that is not satisfied with our service and will always do my best to resolve customer issues in a timely fashion. But I feel there are several omissions or errors in her statement that feel need to be clarified. On June 24th, one of our technicians went to the customers rental property to service the dryer vents on the 2nd and 3rd floor units. The technician printed an estimate BEFORE any work was done and the customer signed off. When he was done with the service, he reviewed the work with the customer and review a detailed checklist we provide to ensure the work was done to the customer’s satisfaction he informed her that the dryer on the 2nd floor was not working well and was resulting in VERY low airflow and he recommend she buy a new dryer. Her response was that she was not going to do that and it was not in the budget. She initialed the checklist approving the work done and the technician left that was 6/24. Almost 2 months later on 8/18, the customer called to report the 2nd floor dryer was not working. On 8/21 a different technician was dispatched and found the dryer was not blowing any air. He called the owner to tell her the dryer was broken. The customer called twice while I was on vacation. I called back on 9/10. She accused us of breaking her dryer and asked for $800+ for the new dryer she bought. I replied if the dryer worked for 2 months after our service we could not be responsible for it breaking. But I did offer to refund the cost of cleaning that 2nd floor vent since it had become very dirty due to the 2 months of use with the old underperforming dryer. I emailed all of that to her right after the call. I was waiting for a reply. I never heard back until getting this review on 9/15. Now that I have heard from her via this review, I will issue her a refund for the 2nd floor cleaning. One final note, there was no complaint regarding the 3rd floor vent that we also serviced that same day and in the same way. Webb Dickson - Owner"
"As the owner of Dryer Vent Wizard, I am of course very concerned when any customer has an issue with our service. However in this specific case I feel the customer has made some very serious accusations that I feel I must address. First and foremost, I am total disheartened that we are accused of taking advantage of the customer’s mother. We will not and do not take advantage of people especially older people with English as a second language. Quite the opposite, in those cases we take more time to thoroughly explain the situation and keep the customer informed as the job progresses. And my tech Je’an is a 50+ year old man who is kindhearted and would never do anything to mislead or take advantage of a customer. As for the service call, it is true that the initial proposed solution was not viable, but Je’an stopped and explained the situation in detail to his mother and after a lot of exploration(lots of utilities and a deck blocking a clear path outside), he did offer a solution. Je’an is a committed tech and spent a good deal of time researching to find a resolution that was code compliant, presented it to the customer’s mother and she declined opting instead to research moving the washer & dryer. As for the suggestion to relocate the washer and dryer, it was the customer’s mother who asked if it was an option since she had been thinking about it anyway. My tech said it was possible but did not offer any comment on the cost since it is not our area of expertise. After the customer filed his complaint stating he had a new vent installed, I did send Je’an back to see if perhaps we had missed something. The “new” vent completely violated code: all slinky foil duct, crushed where it went over the foundation, and a screen in the vent cover – not a safe solution. All of this took place in mid April and the last time I heard from this customer was on May 18th. Now that he has responded to my last communication, we will refund his money since that is what we do. Reply limited due to site length restrictions."

Just so readers are aware, your vent needed a part of it replaced since it was flexible foil or plastic and then the remainder of the vent was cleaned - so this was more involved and costly than a simple cleaning which would be around $169. I see that our tech found you had an old "slinky" style dryer vent which was unsafe, and could not be cleaned due to its fragile nature. Instead he replaced it with a new 25+ foot vent rigid metal vent (inside a crawl space) in order to bring your vent up to code and to ensure it is safe and efficient. Regarding pricing I can only say that the total included a safety inspection(1 time fee), a vent cleaning, and a new vent cover. And the cost of service not only reflects the time the technician spent at your home but also the time spent by our scheduling people to set up your appointment, and the time spent dispatching the technician to your home. That plus being fully insured all contribute to the price you pay. And since we recommended moving forward that you only have your vent cleaned every 3 years, the $159 you pay in 3 years will average out to about $50/year for a safe dryer vent!
