We had Silco install a new furnace and AC in 2016, and it was the worst decision I have ever made as a homeowner. The installation itself had numerous problems, including an intermittent electrical connection that kept the AC from working. Turned out their tech had stripped the insulation improperly, cutting the actual copper wire. They also had to recharge the AC twice, right after installing it, before they figured out it had been a faulty unit from the start - but the owner still charged me $400 for the work, despite the inconvenience of several service calls and the fact that we had no AC for the whole summer. Now, in 2020, I find out that they should have installed a holder for the filter instead of us having to jam them inside the actual furnace case, which the manufacturer specifically recommends against, AND that they should have put the furnace up on blocks to keep it from rusting, which it is starting to do. They just don't have a clue what they are doing. And they leave their empty soda cans behind for you to clean up. Stay away from this crew of incompetents.

It went very good. I've used them before. They're a bit expensive but they're efficient, came on time and clean up after themselves.

Excellent. They are very nice and dependable. Which I have not had much luck finding honest and trusting plumbers. Jay explained everything the night he gave me the estimate so I new what had to be done. When they finished the job they explained everything. Jay, Joe, Bob and Jerry are all so nice that I would call them back in a heart beat! Very dedicated and they have a lot of respect for their customers.

The sewer ejector pump broke on a Friday evening at my Retail store Guitar Stop which is open 7 days per week.   I called Silco and they said that they would need to purchase a replacement pump which would not be available until Monday.   I was told that their Company was swamped because of the brutal winter and the soonest they would be able to get to my problem would be Wednesday.    I was really pleased that Silco called me on Monday morning to say that could fit my job in that day.
Silco had originally installed the sewer ejector pump in 2005.  The plumber said that 10 years was the average lifetime of that type of pump.  I have been very happy with the 2 times that I have used Silco and I would recommend them & use them again.

We were happy with the prompt service.
We were afraid that the plumber may not be able to make it the same day, and that we would be without water for some time.
The plumber Mr. Rob was very professional and seemed to know what he was doing.
 He was efficient and quick.
He fixed the problem, and advised us how to avoid such a problem in the future.
(So far the repair seems to be holding, but its only been a few hours. So I cannot really tell any more about the quality of the job.)
Silco Plumbing charged us $150 just to come out to look at the problem,
They did inform me about this fee when I spoke over the phone,
Understand that this is standard for all the plumbing firms. It was on a weekend too.
 The work cost $285.
We received in addition a $25 discount for a coupon we got in the mail. You can also print one from their site.
We did not compare prices.
All in all we are pleased with the work Mr. Rob did.
We recommend Silco Plumbing.

"Thank you for taking the time to review us on Angie's List. We're happy to hear you were pleased with the service Silco's technician provided you on Saturday. Please note that the $150.00 fee was an Emergency Dispatch Fee because it was weekend call. We do not charge a dispatch fee during regular business hours. Thanks for choosing Silco and thanks again for your kind words of satisfaction! We appreciate your business."

,Our tankless hot water heater stopped working last night, and we called Silco early in the morning. Joe came over early in the morning, diagnosed the problem, and made the repair. A little bit of information: the warrantee was due to run out in just three days. He opened up a case file with the manufacturer, and began a hunt for the replacement parts. Despite encountering some difficulties in getting the parts, Joe persisted, finally located them, and had to go out of state to get them. They showed up promptly, left the site clean, and showed excellent communication skills. We are repeat customers, and will definitely call on Silco again in the future!

This was a complex job involving changing a manual mixing valve on a multi-zone existing radiant heating system with a hot water storage tank The work also included providing an oil fired boiler upgrade. I had been trying three years to find a contractor that understood the needs and that I felt comfortable with. Silco used "movers" to remove the old boiler and carry in the new one. Even they had a great attitude and busied themselves cleaning up while they were waiting the next step. The Silco installers were neat and did a great job. They added many valves to make future work - if needed - easier. They finished the work on New Year's eve as planned and stayed late to clean up and to slowly bleed air from the system. As they did that, the new system was humming along happily when my old relay controller fried - unable to handle the new load. The owner was able to get a new 6-zone controller at 4 PM on New Year's eve and bring it by. They stayed until about 6:30 PM to install it and be sure all was working. They followed up over the next few days to help me balance and adjust the system - it uses an outside sensor to adjust the mixing temperature and variable flow to the different loops to balance rooms within a zone. I am very happy with their work and professionalism.

They showed up and did the work over two days, then installed a shower door the following week. Since this was an 8th floor unit and it was leaking onto the floor below, I felt I was in a weak position to negotiate or shop around, plus my tenants had been without a shower in their master bedroom for a long time. I felt taken advantage of and that SILCO really put the screws to me with the $6300 price, for two guys to do 2 days worth of work. It's not completely outrageous - that's why I give them a C rather than anything lower. But it was definitely well into the high end for this work. I definitely recommend that the consumer ask for pricing in advance and get quotes from two different providers before proceeding. Also - they want to demand cash on delivery - always a bad sign that the contractor anticipates problems due to their pricing model.
After saying all that I do have to compliment them that they were on time, did what they said they would do, and did it when they said they would do it. They completed the work.

The two guys who came to my house were friendly, quick, and happy to explain to me what they were doing (and what I had missed). They even did some preventive maintenance on the house heater. They replaced an old valve that would have caused some problems in the near future.

Very expensive is my lasting impression. The plumber arrived on time and began to work. I was there looking on as he worked. During the job he did not have a certain tool on the truck (it was a tool that should have been there - even the plumber said so) so he went to the plumbing supply house to pick one up. The plumber returned, completed the job and cleaned up. He did do a good job then made out the bill. It was outrageous. He charged me $754 for 3 hours of labor plus travel time (including the time spent going to the plumbing supply house). That's $250/hr, or $215/hr if you factor in 1/2 hr travel time - for 1 guy. If you remove travel time to the plumbing supply house the effective rate would have been about $300/hr. I called the owner and asked if that is what he usually charges and he said yes. I good job turned bad very fast because of how much he charged me. I would not hire him again.

The Silco rep showed up exactly on time and was very professional and worked quickyl and efficiently. He cleaned up after himself and communicated a potential problem area to keep an eye on to my wife as I had left for work already.

I had a challenging installation because of existing gas lines. The Silco plumbers were very pleasant and professional, but they were young and did not have the experience to solve the problem. After two different Silco employees and the owner came out to try to resolve the problem, the stove was still not level and did not fit snuggly into the space. I ended up hiring someone else to redo the installation.

Worker was punctual and professional. The furnace is old and it was suggested I replace it. The only problem was I felt pressured somewhat about a new furnace. I believe it was brought up 3 or 4 times although I had said no from the beginning.

I contacted Mr. Silvero at 4PM after the first plumber I had contacted failed to show up. He came right over, identified the problem, and ordered the necessary replacement part. As promised, his associate arrived first thing in the morning two days later to replace the part and repair the leak. He successfully fixed the problem.

Really well. They checked out the old furnaces, looked at the 3 rental units which the furnaces serviced, evaluated the scope of the project, got the appropriate permits and did the work in a timely and professional manner. One of the furnaces had draft or air intake issues. They came back and fixed the problem within a short time period. The tenants have all realized energy and cost savings as a result of their new furnaces. From start to finish it took about 3 days. They did a great job cleaning up and removing the old furnaces.

This was basically an emergency call since I had already asked the city to shut off the water to the house so I could dig through the mud and find the leak. I had contacted three other companies and they were all busy or unresponsive. Silco were able to dispatch a plumber early the next morning and the job was done in about two hours including two trips to the shop. The options were pretty limited because the pipe was partially buried in concrete and I hadn't dug up enough dirt to run a single straight pipe to the meter. The plumber (I believe Al) proposed a temporary solution to get us back up so I could finish digging later. He had to leave before the water was turned back on by the city but made sure I knew how to fine-tune the fittings if they were still leaking.

Service tech was on time. Was told everything looked fine and that I would have to pay $135 for diagnostics if I wanted him to proceed. Talked about how simple the system was, but had trouble diagnosing the problem. While there, the system began to work again without any changes being made. A month later he returned because the heater had again stopped working. Unclear when since the heater is in the basement and not regularly observed. This time further evidence of the issue was identified. After replacing that part, the heater still did not work. Several parts and days later, plus an additional $1250 for parts and labor, the heater was again working. When asked if the original $135 could be applied towards the new fees, I was told no.
