"Called Stephen MIchael for an estimate.  He came out the next nite, gave me the estimate and I hired him.  He
came the next nite in the rain exactly at the time advised.  Loaded a hugh truckload of old wood, fencing, etc on the
truck..got it all.   Then he even swept up the driveway in the rain.  Very professional and I was extremely happy.
Would not hesitate to hire again.   "

"Very well. I had an appointment for approximately 8 AM. They were a bit late, but had called to let me know, and it wasn't a problem for me. They spent well over an hour on the job. They took a ton of lint out of the vent pipes and the dryer itself. I'm pretty sure that whoever it was I had in last time did not open up the dryer to clean it. They also installed a "bird cage" around the vent opening on the side of the house to prevent critters from getting in. (I don't think I have had problems with birds getting in, but why take the chance?) They were very thorough. The job cost more than the initial estimate, but this was because my vent pipe was longer than I had realized. It was reasonable."

"The owner returned my call promptly and after discussing the services needed he emailed me a detailed estimate and answered all my questions. I was confident after speaking to Joe that the work would be done exactly as I had requested. His son, Anthony, was the actual serviceman and he was courteous and my questions were answered and together we agreed on the best plan to cover everything that needed to be done in the most efficient and least disruptive manner. He worked tirelessly to complete all the extra services I hadn’t thought of initially which involved cleaning the bathroom vents, replacing the bird guard on the outside of the dryer vent and also cleaning the refrigerator coils which it turns out were in pretty bad shape! He showed me pictures of before and after and the difference was remarkable. Although he needed to work longer to accommodate all my requests, he was kind and patient and did not make me feel guilty for adding extra work, although I felt bad that he had a very long work day! If you are looking for courteous, reliable, and professional service this is the company to choose!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Boilers provide even heating, energy efficiency, and a quiet operation compared to forced air systems.

The average lifespan of a boiler is typically between 15 and 20 years, though some may last for as little as 10 years while others can reach 30. A boiler's longevity is influenced by several factors, including the quality of the unit, proper installation, and consistent professional maintenance.

The material also plays a significant role. Older boilers made from durable cast iron can last for over 20 years, with some functioning for up to 50 years. However, it's important to consider their lower efficiency, which can lead to higher utility bills. Modern boilers, often made from steel alloys, are designed to withstand high pressure and temperatures and have an average lifespan of about 20 years.

To maximize your boiler's lifespan, ensure it is installed correctly, have it professionally maintained each year, and address any necessary repairs immediately.

A common HVAC rule is that for every 500 to 600 square feet of living space, you need 1 ton of heating or cooling capacity. Now that you know this common rule, you also need to know that it isn’t very accurate, and a dedicated pro wouldn’t use it for your home. If you talk to a pro who won’t or can’t perform a proper Manual J calculation, consider hiring someone more thorough.

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.
