At Luke's Handyman Service we specialize in multiple different types of home repair, refurbishments and Drywall work as well as painting (Interior & Exterior). I have been in the field for around six years but been handy my entire life (so I'm told). I also do grounds work like maintaining yards etc I used to do this for golf courses in the past. I also do the very small jobs that maybe you just haven't gotten around to yet, or would like done by a polite and punctual individual who will get it done quickly as possible. Been in the Baton Rouge are for 30 years have been in the HVAC/Appliances industry for the same amount of time very professional in the work i provide was in the service Marines for 4 years of my life and enjoyed what it stood for about giving a 110 percent every day i get up being positive each and every day any way i provide a quality service for every one i do air-conditioning heating service also do Appliances kitchen appliances,water heaters,ceiling fans,kitchen exhaust fan,duct work.washer/dryer call me and i'll try to answer any questions you may have,have a great day and thank you

"Jim missed the first appointment. He came over the second day, briefly examined my LG refrigerator, and told me that the problem was with the compressor, not any other thing. He charged me $140 for the “diagnostics”. He said the compressor needs to be replaced and later that day he sent me a quote for cost of compressor replacement. I sent that quote to the LG company with all the details they required as the compressor had the company warranty for 10 yrs. They asked me to send me the physical address of the technician as it was not on Jim’s quote. I contacted Jim for his shop’s physical address twice but he refused to give me the address and told me that the LG company will look up for his address on the web if they want! I was not able to follow through with LG because of his lack of address."

The average life span of an HVAC system is 15 to 20 years. Even if your old air conditioner is still functional, it isn't as energy-efficient as a newer system (especially one with an Energy Star designation). Older HVAC systems aren't as efficient, and the 10-year mark is when you should start making full system replacement plans. Twenty years in, that plan should be well underway rather than waiting for the unit to die.

If your refrigerator is more than 15 years old, it probably needs to be replaced, and it makes more sense to replace over repair. A new fridge costs $1,000 to $4,000 or more. If you have a newer fridge, it’s worth spending a couple hundred dollars on a repair to make it last several more years. Repairing an older fridge might not yield much in the way of useful life. You can always ask your repair technician if it makes more sense to replace your fridge rather than repair it.

Costs depend on microwave type, mounting requirements, and labor rates.

When replacing an old unit, you might want to switch from a gas water heater to an electric water heater or vice versa. To do this, you will likely need to add infrastructure to the area. For example, you likely don’t have a gas line that served your old electric water heater. You’d have to call a plumber to put in a new gas line. If you’re replacing a gas unit with an electric one, the plumber will need to safely cap the old gas line. You will then need an electrician to add wiring for the new electric unit.

Most appliance retailers have dedicated installation teams that can tackle the delivery and installation process simultaneously. Unfortunately, just because a retailer sells a specific appliance brand doesn’t mean that its installation technicians are certified by that manufacturer to complete the installation. You could end up with a voided warranty if the installer isn't certified, costing more money down the road. It’s best to find an installer that is certified by your appliance manufacturer, even if it means paying more or dealing with potential scheduling conflicts.
