"Brennan with Full Blast AC was very professional and easy to work with! Great quality work with fair prices. I donâ t know much about heating/air conditioning, so I really appreciated that he took the time to simplify & explain everything to me. He has worked at several locations for me and I will definitely continue to use his services!"

"Pros * Very friendly and prompt customer service in setting up a service call and completing product orders * Only $59 initial charge for initial diagnosis fee (this charge for weekdays; $85 for weekends) * Technician was extremely personable/friendly; thoroughly and patiently explained every step of his work * For products to be purchased to complete repairs, the technician thoroughly explained how products would improve performance and patiently helped us to find the most affordable solution. * Decent rates for products purchased for repairs. * For the past month, the installed products have significantly improved performance as we have had no freeze-ups of the coil and we experience better cooling. Cons None experienced From the initial call to the end of the product installation, we were thoroughly pleased with the service of Smith Air Conditioning. I have never worked with such an overtly friendly technician; he went out of his way to be nice to my family and me. We had many questions for him as we have been stiffed by AC companies in the past, but he was quite patient with us and explained solutions in a way that made good sense. Further, the secretary at the Smith AC office was very friendly as well, and they were quite prompt and getting a technician out to our place, in placing product orders, and in ensuring that our unit was working better. Additionally, we found the pricing for the products we purchased to be affordable, and the tech did not try to strong-arm us to purchase anything. Finally, for the past month, the products installed have improved the cooling performance of the AC, and the products are working as promised to ensure that the AC does not freeze up on cooler nights. If you choose this company for AC repairs, I sincerely believe that you will be thankful for your excellent choice for years to come. Thanks to Quenton (our AC technician) and all the staff at Smith Air Conditioning for exemplary service. Update: 01/21/2021 Smith Air sent Andrea out to us to have another look at our AC as the handler coil continues to freeze though a freeze stat was recently installed. Upon his arrival, we noticed how friendly and easy-going he was. After observing and analyzing the unit operation, he determined that the freeze stat was connected properly, hence, he was unsure as to why it is not performing well. However, we agreed that adding refrigerant as we were a bit low would help to lower the likelihood of the coil freezing until we resolved the freeze stat issue. So, after the refrigerant was added, we quickly noticed the house cooling faster. Over the next several days, we will continue working with Smith Air to hopefully resolve our problems with freeze stats. Throughout the visit of Andrea, he was friendly and fully willing to answer all our questions. He also provided professional, sensible explanations which my folks and I appreciated. We are truly grateful for the help of Andrea, and we are thankful for the commitment and understanding in working through this strange freeze stat problem. In all my years working with HVAC companies, I have never been as pleased and impressed as I have been with Smith Air. Thanks to you all."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The best time of year to purchase or replace an HVAC system, including components like an air conditioner or furnace, is during the off-season—spring and fall. During these periods, HVAC professionals are less busy than in summer and winter, when extreme temperatures create urgent demand. Shopping during the off-season can lead to savings of 10% to 15% on an AC unit and allows you more time to find the best deal and other cost-saving incentives. Typically, air conditioning units go on sale in the fall after demand drops, while furnace prices tend to decrease in the spring.

Yes, HVAC zoning systems offer energy savings by allowing precise temperature control in different zones in your home. Rather than conditioning the whole house uniformly, these systems direct airflow where needed, preventing energy waste. Tailoring comfort to specific areas reduces energy consumption and lowers utility costs, making HVAC zoning an energy-efficient choice.

The length of an AC cycle depends on the settings in your thermostat and the unit you have. Central AC doesn't constantly run at full blast the way that a window unit does. A cooling cycle in most homes is 15 to 20 minutes. Then, the unit stays off for seven to 10 minutes to circulate the cold air in the house before the cycle repeats. It should repeat two or three times per hour. A short cycle lasts less than 10 minutes and then turns off.

You might notice that your air conditioner isn’t running as effectively as it once did. Specifically, your AC unit could take longer to cool your home, or it might struggle to remove humidity from the air. Higher utility bills and hissing sounds coming out of your AC could also indicate a leak.

While 72 degrees is a comfortable setting for many people, it’s likely not the most efficient temperature setting for your air conditioning unit. By pushing the temperature up to 75 or 78 degrees, you stand to save money on your energy bill. That said, these temperatures may be too warm to be comfortable for some people and are definitely too warm for most people to sleep comfortably.
