"Don’t let them fool you into getting the Wells Fargo Home Projects card!! I just got hit with $3,000 in interest charged purchases, that’s on top of the $10,000 I paid for the new HVAC unit I got replaced in the summer of 2019. I feel like the agent from Accutemp deceived me into getting this card. I called Wells Fargo and Accutemp and they both said I’m stuck paying the extra $3,000. I should of read the fine print when I got the card, but I trusted the agent from Accutemp because they had good reviews and a good reputation. Don’t make the same mistake I did and let them deceive you!"

We're a small local company where my reputation matters the most. We do quality work in a timely manner. I have my own subs so if I can't handle it, I have someone who can.

"Couldn't be happier with Handyman for Hire. Have been dealing with Jeff & his crews for nearly 25 years. The latest project couldn't have gone better. His two-man crew was easy to work with and worked well together, and as trustworthy as the day is long. Their foresight in planning the project, problem-solving skills during the project, and quality of work was all top-knotch. Looking forward to dealing with Handyman for Hire for the next projects!"

"I’ve had Arrow for almost a year and have only seen a tech once. Yet I’m still being charged quarterly. I spoke with someone who assured me that a tech would come out on Friday and when I called back to make sure they were still coming I was informed that the appointment was moved back 2 more weeks. Meanwhile I find termites around the inside perimeter of my home and still nothing. I will be calling for a refund of all my funds. If I could give zero stars I would."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

When it comes to window coverings, cellular shades are typically known as the most energy-efficient option. Cellular shades are also known as honeycomb shades. They are made of a soft fabric and take the form of “honeycomb” cells. These cell pockets trap air in and around your windows, providing insulation.

No, you shouldn’t wrap a towel, old T-shirt, or other porous fabric around your faucets. These materials absorb water, which can make your faucet more likely to freeze. Instead, you want to use waterproof, insulative covers that can seal tightly around the spigots for the best protection against frozen outdoor faucets and pipes.

Most insulation lasts 15 to 20 years, but it really depends on the type of insulation. Spray foam is a permanent insulation material that can last up to 100 years. Fiberglass and cellulose typically settle, shift, or deteriorate around 15 years. Once your insulation reaches the 15-year mark, it's time to check it for signs of needing to be replaced.

Ductwork sweats for the same reason you might find beading on your windows or why cold drinks drip in the heat—temperature difference. When you see your ductwork and you notice sweating, that's a sure sign that your system is not operating anywhere close to peak efficiency. The best way to keep ductwork from sweating is to wrap it in inadequate insulation.

Blown-in insulation works, but only for unfinished attics. Also, it isn’t the longest-lasting nor the most effective option. For better options, look into spray foam insulation or natural fiber batts. They typically have a longer lifespan, better heat resistance, and stronger sound-proof abilities. Spray foam insulation costs about $1.25 to $1.50 per square foot, but can go up to more than $4 per square foot. Fiber batt pricing varies depending on the material.
