"From the scheduling, to the free estimate by the owner, to the incredible workmanship of the 4-man team: we were so pleased! I was a little worried at first when they said they couldn't get to us for a month but then Miranda (very sweet) called stating that they had an opening 3 weeks early and could get the whole thing done in 2 days! Mr. Borders came down to give us the estimate. He was very nice and professional. A few days later, 2 of his sons and 2 other young men came marching up and starting working non-stop! I've never seen young men work so well together and in such a professional manner, when 1 walked away from a particular job, the other filled in the gap. We were very impressed! And the work was so beautiful, my neighbors have all complimented us. In fact, the people next door have decided to call them as well. All in all, I would highly recommend them! (Note, the price was for both my fence and my mother's adjoining fence.)"

Small jobs welcome

"Jaren and his crew built a beautiful new fence for us. Not only was I thrilled with the results, I was very happy with the experience as well. Jaren is very conscientious, attentive to detail, and was extremely considerate of our neighbors, our property, and our time. He always responded quickly to my calls and texts. He regularly made sure I was happy with the work being performed and walked the fence with me at the end of the day to point out specific things they had done. I appreciated that he always explained the plan for the next day and welcomed my input. Jaren personally introduced himself and gave his card to the neighbors on all sides of the fence in case they had questions or concerns. Simply put, my experience indicates that he is a good, trustworthy, honest man who does top notch, quality work. I have other landscaping projects planned and I intend on calling him. Our yard is oddly and artificially elevated from our neighbor s and our old, rotting fence was the only thing keeping an avalanche of dirt from spilling onto her property. I knew that if we just replaced the fence as it stood, the wood would rot prematurely from prolonged contact with the soil. We also could not rebuild the fence on the elevated ground surface because erosion would eventually destroy it or leave a giant gap under the fence. No other fence contractor that we received estimates from addressed this issue except for Jaren. In the long run, he saved us several hundred dollars, if not more, by doing the job right the first time and leveling the ground. We also have a large, old tree that sits in the middle of the property line. As the tree grew, it had pushed into the old fence (neither good for the health of the tree or the fence). I was skeptical as to what could be done to protect the tree, maintain an enclosed yard, and look aesthetically pleasing. In order to abide by legal requirements regarding property lines, Jaren built the fence up to either side of the tree, cut the pickets to follow the contour of the trunk, and reinforced both sides of the fence with a rebar post. I was wary when he described that plan but it actually looks fantastic. As the tree grows, we will just pop off or shave back a picket. We also had several trees that needed to be cut down. I was so impressed with their work on the fence that I asked Jaren if he and the crew could take care of the trees and grind down the stumps, which they did. Some specific things that I appreciated: 1) he angled the top of the fence posts so that the water runs down and doesn t settle on the top, causing rot. 2) When everything was finished, he put straw and grass seed down where the stumps had been taken out and where the old fence posts had been dug up. 3) Although we have a privacy fence, he allowed enough space between pickets to allow for expansion during the summer heat and humidity so the pickets don t buckle. 4) The pickets are just slightly off the ground so that they aren t in contact with the soil and rot. 5) He used thicker posts on either side of our wide gate to support their weight."

"The best contractor and company I have ever had do work at my house. They replaced my deck and actually made improvements to the deck during construction. The High Quality Work was done in a very timely manner, in fact they finished a day earlier than promised. Not to mention they only used top grade lumber not the run of the mill cheap stuff. They always cleaned up their mess and left the. Job site clean. I would highly recommend this company for any decking work around your home."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Lexington, regular fence maintenance is essential due to the region's variable climate. Wood fences should be cleaned and resealed or stained every two to three years, while vinyl fences benefit from seasonal washing. Metal fences require periodic rust checks and touch-ups. The local Cooperative Extension Service suggests annual inspections to catch issues early and extend your fence's lifespan.

Helpful?

In Lexington, common mistakes include neglecting a property survey, overlooking HOA rules, and failing to obtain a fence permit from the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. Choosing materials unsuited for local weather, such as untreated wood, can lead to premature damage. Consulting local authorities and confirming all requirements before installation helps prevent costly disputes and ensures a smooth fencing project.

Helpful?

In Lexington, pressure-treated pine and cedar are popular wood choices due to their resistance to local humidity and pests. Vinyl fencing is also favored for its low maintenance and ability to withstand Kentucky's weather. For added security, galvanized chain link is common, while powder-coated aluminum is ideal for decorative fencing in areas prone to moisture, according to local fencing suppliers.

Helpful?

Lexington's humid summers, wet springs, and freeze-thaw winter cycles can impact fence durability and installation timing. Wood fences require sealing to prevent rot and warping, while metal fences need rust-resistant coatings. The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government recommends scheduling installations during mild weather and inspecting fences after storms or heavy rainfall for early signs of weather-related damage.

Helpful?

In Lexington, a fence permit is required if your fence exceeds 4 feet in the front yard or 6 feet in the side or rear yard, as outlined by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. You'll need to submit a site plan and details on fence height, materials, and location. Always verify property lines and consult the local Planning and Building Inspection office before starting your fencing project.
