"Outstanding, WOW! Every once in a while you're just fortunate. I knew I needed insulation. I could see the typical sub par builders grade work. Sean inspected, wrote the estimate at my house and, Emailed the estimate. There is a good bit of science to adding inslulation. They did a blower door test before and after to make sure the house was more efficient and healthy with the correct amount of 'air exchanges per hour.' On time, ready to work, completed the work, and cleaned up. Very little mess. Can't say enough good things about the company. Plan to call them back to spray foam my rim joists."

"I conferred with Green Factor with a insulation issue. They were great to talk to, and in the end I did not need to do anything with my insulation. They gave me their honest professional opinion. I recommend them to anyone who needs a insulation project done."

"I was very impressed with the work I had done and the price of the work I had done. Stuart came and took pictures of my attic and measured insulation I had in the attic. Told me how much insulation he suggested to blow in. When finished he had pics of finished product. He even sealed around electrical boxes, lights, bathroom fans and vent pipes. Very well done! ð ð ð"

"The company did a blow-in of insulation material between the studs and in the attic space. There were several areas in the garage where there was no drywall and they had a method of containing the insulation material so that drywall would be added later. They even insulated on the small spaces above and beside the garage door. Since the insulation has been installed, the temperature has stayed around 55 degrees on a pretty consistent basis. The estimate I received was 1/2 the amount received from another company. They brought a sample of the blow-in material and showed a video of how the insulation would be contained where there was no drywall. Now, here is the icing on the cake: between the time of the estimate and the time of the installation, I tore the meniscus in a knee, making me unable to prep the garage by moving items away from the wall. The installers backed my car out of the garage, moved the items and then moved everything back. Outstanding customer service!"

"These guys are the real deal! I had iFoam come out to take a comprehensive look at the insulating needs for my house. They sent an efficient and friendly crew out to give me all the information I needed to make a decision. iFoam was not trying to sell me anything, they were invested in trying to find that best and most cost effective solution to my needs. I hired them to do spray-foam insulation in my basement and crawl space and they did a great job. Everything was carefully planned and they triple checked with me before they made any big decisions that could effect my basement or drywall. I would (and plan to) work with iFoam for my next project. Prompt, professional, affordable, and knowledgeable."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

While fumigation chemicals cannot pass through solid objects, they will seep into any openings in walls, doors, or other closed spaces. This allows them to get into tight places where pests may be hiding and causing damage, like termites ruining the foundation of your home. It also means that your home needs to ventilate for 48 hours before returning to ensure that no harmful chemicals remain in your space.

Yes, applying a texture can hide minor imperfections and irregularities in drywall, but it will not cover significant damage like nail marks or screw holes. The best texture depends on the size of the flaws. For minor imperfections, popular choices like orange peel, sand, or popcorn texture are effective. For larger imperfections, you may need a more prominent style, such as a knockdown or trowel finish, to conceal them effectively.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

Furring strips, thin strips of wood or metal, are not always required for ceiling drywall installation. If the ceiling surface is even and in good condition, drywall can be directly attached to the ceiling joists using screws. However, furring strips become essential when dealing with irregular surfaces or when additional insulation or soundproofing is needed. They create a level substrate for attaching the drywall. Ultimately, the decision to use furring strips depends on the condition of the existing ceiling and the specific requirements of the project.

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.
