"I have nothing but good things to say about the weekend repair man. He communicated well. He came when he said he would come. When he was here and doing the jobs he was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and his rates are very reasonable. I would definitely hire him again."

Customers say: Quality work

"Contacted Eric on Friday morning. Came by shortly thereafter. He viewed the work to be done. Said he would call back later with an estimate. He did call back later in the afternoon with an estimate. It was a very fair estimate. He called back on Sunday saying he could do the projects on Monday. He gave me the time he would be there. He was punctual. He got to work right away. One of the projects way difficult to accomplish but he got it done. He completed the rest of the work in a timely manner. I would most definitely hire Eric again as he is so very professional. The price was as he quoted me. I would recommend him to anyone who needs this type of work done."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

There are several maintenance tips you should take to ensure your pellet stove's safety and proper maintenance. You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. It’s also important to get a professional inspection every year and install a carbon monoxide detector close to your stove. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.

The NFPA model codes and International Residential Code (IRC) mandate that all new one- and two-family homes have fire sprinkler systems. However, all municipalities are different. The best way to determine if your municipality requires fire sprinklers is to contact your state fire marshal’s office. One reason to install a fire sprinkler system is that it’s the first line of defense in putting out a fire and alerting your family of emergencies.

Yes, a chimney damper is necessary. It controls airflow in and out of your fireplace, helping to retain heat when closed and allowing smoke to escape when open. Without a damper, your home could lose warmth during cold months, leading to higher energy bills. It also helps prevent downdrafts and keeps animals or debris from entering the chimney. In short, it’s essential for efficiency and safety.

In most cases, having a fire hydrant installed on your property, whether it’s maintained by you personally or your municipality, will reduce your insurance premiums. Its proximity to any buildings on the property will reduce the time it takes to put out a fire, thus reducing the resulting damage.

Your smoke detector might be too high in some homes or circumstances to reach yourself. If you feel unsafe getting on a ladder to replace your hardwired smoke detector, call a licensed electrician or local handyman to knock this project off your to-do list. If you have a battery-operated smoke detector, your local fire department can change the batteries or help you replace the detector—just make sure you call the non-emergency number.

In any case, do not let this project go unresolved, as it could turn into a huge safety issue.
