"The old pump could have been used, but I chose a pump and was told that the price was $2400, for the pump and installation. Additional fees were incurred for wiring and labor for wiring. I agreed to do the work, with significant pressure as we were in trouble with having water. After I agreed, I felt taken advantage of after I looked up the price of pumps online. i called the technician and he stated this pump had a 10 year warranty, you have to compare "apple to apples" and that this was a fair price. I was under the impression it would take several hours to do the work. I then called his manager who was a good listener, but stated that the hourly fees for a plumber would be more than what they charge and that many people would take all day to install this, so I figured they would be working for several hours. When I got home, I looked at the bill, and the pump and parts were $1,708.50. The labor was $901.50. They completed the work in two hours, and our water pressure was back. I appreciate the fact they solved a serious problem. The quality was excellent, but the costs of the labor exceeded anything I could have imagined. The hourly rate was $450 per hour! That included an addition error which means I paid $60 more than I should have paid! My wife wrote the check, trusting the amount was correct. Another lesson learned!
I paid a premium for the pump, and I paid an more for the hourly fees than I would probably pay a physician in and urgent care center. I believe they should estimate the time and charge according to the time it takes to complete the job.
The manager was a very good communicator, and I appreciate his condor that they focus on "quality and are not the cheapest, and not the most expensive." That last statement seems questionable!
If you want a new well pump, they will do an excellent job. I would bid this out if I had it to do again. I presume they will refund the $60.00 they overcharged."
