As the seller, I needed to mitigate the radon to under 4 by closing. They installed the system, but the numbers were still unacceptable. They did not consult us on were we would like or not like the pipe. They tried, at a slow pace, several times to fix the issue. A month later, they still could not get the number below 4 and my buyer was able to be release from our contract.

During installation, they crushed my HVAC pipes so now half the house has little airflow and are refusing to return my calls.... This company installed my radon system back in August 2013 a few weeks before we officially closed and took ownership of the house. Everything went well and my radon levels decreased to minimal levels. Ever since we took ownership of the house we noticed the lack of air flow to some bedrooms upstairs. We contributed this issue to the age and power capability of the HVAC and furnace. It was an original unit from 1986. This year, we replaced both units with a new state of the art and robust powerful system. We soon noticed the continued lack of air flow in specific bedrooms upstairs. We finally dispatched the company that installed our unit (Complete Comfort whom I rated on this website a few months back). Ken Hale (owner) investigated our duct work in our crawl space. We soon learned that the radon mitigation system PVC pipe and electric cords were improperly installed over the ducts and crushed them. Hence, zero air flow to the upstairs bedroom. (Please see attached picture). For the past two months, I've left countless voicemails and emails. Provided a work scope of the damage that included pictures. They finally responded 3 weeks ago and said they installed the system in the correct fashion (total lie). They said they would not pay for damages nor rectify unless they send a technician out there to review. That was on August 14th, and 3 voicemails and 3 emails since, they have failed to response or acknowledge me. I've requested for their professional to come out and investigate the damage they did. Hence, our next steps will be with the Better Business Bureau. Nevertheless, I just wanted to give this candid review to prevent anyone else falling victims to this dishonest company.

They came when we were not home and placed the system in an empty area of the basement that we were planning to use as a closet when we finished the basement. The pipe they installed created a water leak in the basement. They have been back twice to repair that leak and it is still leaking when we have heavy rainfall. A check was done on the system and the radon amounts were still high, so they installed a second pipe, this time nearer the water softener, sump, and furnace. I appreciated that they didn't take up extra space in another room of the basement this time. When they installed the second pipe, they joined it with the first via a long pipe across the ceiling of the basement. They ran that next to the existing plumbing pipes so it would be out of the way when we finish the basement ceiling. I appreciated that. Unfortunately, the pipe coming up from the floor was a bit too short so the pipe from the ceiling slopes downward to meet it. Perhaps it was for this reason that they did not seal the joints where the pipes meet. I don't know. However, none of the joints are sealed. This was just pointed out to me by my plumber and I have reached out to the company. I am hopeful that we can come to a positive resolution where they seal the pipe and correct the length of the too short pipe for us at no extra cost. At that time, I hope to raise the score for this company.

Called to get a price on radon system install as well as access possible mold on one board in basement, recommended by my realtor.  Was told owner needed to come to the home to see possible mold.  Was set up by email to come on Tuesday between 11-1.  Did not show up, I called and left message at 1:30.  Received call back, said they were thinking the next day was Wedensday not Tuesday.  He would come on Wednesday between 11-3, we had other things scheduled as well.  Waited all day, no show again.  Called and left message, at 4 pm received an email with a quote of 225.00 to remove mold and 970.00 for Radon.

I called another radon company, price is 825.00.  Called out another Mold Company, they came and said it was mold that was probably on the treated wood when house was built.  He sprayed with a sealant.  No charge!  I insisted on paying him for his time and gas of $50.00 dollars.  Radon is being installed on Wednesday.  Needless to say, I did not respond to her email! The same response I got when I called!

Paid Affordable 325 for their air quality test and then kept receiving requests for payment,  Their quality of work, attention to detail, and bookkeeping leave much to be desired.   Would not use or recommend.

I would not use them again. They kept coming out to fix the thing. But there was always something left undone. They didn't consult us before they installed the pipe. It was a space we were using for a closet. It leaked. It was not effective. So, they installed another one. It leaked. They left a knife in our basement. We have young children. They left the sump unplugged in the basement.

We had an extra unexpected piece of equipment charged, but the work was well done, the roof well sealed.  Glad they could fit our time frame.

The initial testing went fine, but when we had to interact with them directly based on the results, things did not go well.  We were inquiring about them doing further inspection of the basement for possible mold remediation.  But the phone conversations were frustrating.  The lady that we spoke with didn't seem to listen to what information we were wanting, became fairly defensive and also didn't seem to want to let us communicate directly with the owner (who would be doing the inspection).  Needless to say, we did not hire them for the additional work and went with another company.

They are fantastic. They are a good company. I needed some follow-up work and they came out quickly and fixed it under warrantee for free.

My experience with this company is very mixed.  My house was pending sale and an inspection report noted mold issues in the crawlspace.  They came out to remediate the mold and install a new vapor barrier in the crawlspace.  At first, things for the most part seemed like they went well.  Upon a closer look, however, there were several issues that required several trips to the house in order for them to fix.  First, I was told they would run the vapor barrier up the foundation walls to at least 12 inches.  That turned out being very hit-and-miss.  Next, the vapor barrier was supposed to be overlapped and sealed at the seams.  This work was very inconsistent as well.  It seemed quite simple, do the work that was provided on the quote.  It took several trips out to the house before these things were addressed.

The good aspects on this experience were that the price they quoted was very competitive.  Despite the issues with the vapor barrier, the mold portion was fixed as well.  It was nice knowing that they guaranteed their work for 12 months, in case any problems popped up.  This actually did happen with the mold, and they were quick to come back out and address it.

During the pending sale of the home, more mold was found in the house in a different location.  Even though I informed them of this as a new possible opportunity for business, I never heard back from them.  I actually ended up using another mold company to take care of that issue, and I must say that the experience was much better.  So, my overall experience with this company wasn't horrible, but it really could've and should've been much better.  As I found out, there are better options out there when it comes to this type of service.

Excellent service... The fella was very nice, straight forward and helped us understand that the noise was simply some gravel from a recent new roof we had installed. He could have been dishonest and told us the motor needed replacing, but instead he was straight up about it and resolved the issue quickly.

The company was used by our home inspector for a pre-sale inspection before we purchased our home. The quote looked good and we intended to use the company, but when the installers arrived, we found out that the installation would require more intrusive 4and quot; pipes running through the main finished area than we had planned for. The installers double checked with the owner for an alternative, and they did not give us a hard time when we decided not to proceed. I would consider using them again in the future, but now know to ask for the details of the installation plan ahead of time.

Again, Affordable Radon quoted $750.00 for radon remediation. The quote was included in our closing payable to the new owners who could then determine the location of the new system. With check in hand payable to Affordable Radon, the new owners called AR and were shocked to hear that the company revised the original quote to almost double the original quote — double the cost we paid them per the original quote — causing unnecessary confusion and havoc with closing and necessitating another company to intercede. I have no reason why Affordable Radon changed their quote, did not visit the property before issuing the quote, or state on the paperwork that the price could be changed at their discretion.
Poor business judgment and practice.
