"Tim and his crew were excellent! He was able to complete the chimney repairs quickly, despite a a steep roof and a narrow driveway without much room to set up the scaffolding. The new mortar looks lovely, and has kept the rain out. Tim stayed in constant contact in the days leading up to the project, so I always knew what our timeline would be. He and his crew were great!"

"Crew was courteous, professional and on time.  They worked around my dogs and didn't require me to lock them up while they worked.  After the job was done, there was one pipe that started to leak behind a wall because it had gotten nicked when the drywall was installed.  We called and they sent someone over to take care of the problem immediately.  They stand behind the quality of the work.

"After using Higinio and his crew at HBC to paint the exterior and interior of our house and getting excellent results, we contracted him to update our master bathroom. We are thrilled with how it all turned out. The tile work, painting, new soaking tub, toilet and shower and floor tile look fabulous. Highly recommend this company."

"The project went really well, and I couldn't be happier. Just as I requested, the new railing looks exactly like the old railing. There were some issues with installing it into the existing concrete steps, and Rick Gleason found a solution that really worked well. The new railing is sturdy and looks great."

commercial building roof no longer leaks.  A decent job.  The house is another story.  The old shingles needed to be removed and replaced with the new. It looks great.  Issues arose when the new guttering was installed. First, it seems that a drip edge should have been installed along with the roof.  That was not done, so the gutter installers had to go back and do that.  Also, we wanted solid gutter covers.  They brought the ones with holes instead, so went ahead and installed gutter and came out later to install the covers.  Turns out that the gutters should have been located about an inch lower to accommodate the covers. When installed, the covers butted up to the shingles, and the lowest row of shingles had a bow in them so that the rainwater pooled there instead of running off to the gutters.  Also, the ends of the gutters where they butted up to the house were not tight against the siding, neither were they caulked, so the rainwater ran down the wall in sheets  After several calls, a couple of different crews were sent out, but didn't seem to understand the problem.  Finally, a third person came and took pictures and evaluated. He felt the gutters should be relocated and this was finally done several weeks later. Still have an issue with water running down the wall by the porch. We hope no other problems arise.

It appears that communication problems abound, and ongoing personnel changes (we dealt with 3 different managers, two of which no longer work there) both caused problems and kept them from being corrected.  We had other projects we'd like to do, but would not use this company again.

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

Thieves can open almost anything with enough time and the right tools, but they also prefer easy targets that are unlikely to get them caught. Forcing open gates is loud and difficult, and to be able to open one electronically requires extensive knowledge of the system, which most thieves don't have. Electric and other security gates are great deterrents because the thief will move to an easier target. If the thief is determined to enter your property, they will most likely find a different entrance point.

In most cases, you will need a permit to install a new driveway or property gate. An exception might be if you are simply replacing an existing gate. Before issuing a permit, your local municipality may require a site plan or survey to verify property lines and prevent encroachment on a neighbor's property. Permits for a gate typically cost under $100. Be aware that corner properties may have additional restrictions on gate height or style. It's wise to confirm permit requirements with your local building department or your gate installation company, which can usually handle the entire permitting process for you.

There is a reason many commercial garages and storage facilities have roller garage doors. They stand out as one of the most secure options due to their unique design. The compact installation and absence of visible leverage points on the sturdy aluminum curtain make them a formidable obstacle for potential intruders.

Ideally, a gate should be able to swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it is generally best for it to swing inward. This is often the safest option, especially for deck gates near steps, as you'll want the gate to swing away from the stairs. An inward swing also prevents the gate from opening into a public space, like a sidewalk, and can be more convenient when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

There are exceptions, however. The layout of your property may require a different approach. For example, if your property is on a slope, the gate may not be able to swing inward. You should also ensure the gate can open fully without colliding with any objects or blocking access to other areas. For a backyard garden gate where public access isn't a concern, the direction it swings is largely a matter of personal preference. Finally, always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements for which way a gate must swing.

Each has its use, depending on the scenario. Security doors are primarily intended to keep people out of the home, while storm doors are used to protect the home from extreme weather. Both tend to be made from heavy-duty metal and may include glass panels to allow light to enter the home. Storm doors can feature mesh screens, just like screen doors, to allow for increased ventilation and to keep out pests. Security doors rarely, if ever, have mesh screens.
