Just had a sidewalk poured around the back of our house by Van Croshier Concrete; we're super happy with it, and it looks great!

Replace over 2000 sq. ft. of driveway area We were impressed with the quality of Croshier Concrete’s management and operations on our driveway project. It was evident from the first meeting that Van Croshier was a concrete professional. He and his crews were on schedule, on budget and communicated often to keep us informed. Croshier solved our significant water pooling problem by carefully sloping the driveway and installing two drains underneath. The crews cleaned up daily and thoroughly at the end of the project. The cost was very reasonable, and we enjoyed the personal attention from a family-owned company. Our finished driveway-with extra detailing around the edge-is as beautiful as concrete can be. Highly recommend

Van Croshier concrete is hands down the best contractor I have ever hired. Lead by Van Croshier himself, their company is honest, trustworthy, and does excellent work. He's a straight shooter which is hard to find these days. I encourage you to call Van directly with any questions. My driveway is huge, and needed specific engineering to get the grade, slope, and drainage just right. The result is perfection. I receive compliments often from neighbors "you driveway is beautiful, who did the work?" Compliments on a driveway!? yes. You really have to see it in person. Drive by 8316 Claridge Road if you'd like to check it out. Van came back the following year and pressure washed and applied a high tech sealant. After almost 3 years, not even a hairline crack is present. I couldn't be happier and have referred Van Croshier to several friends and family, all who've had equally excellent experiences.

We hired Van Croshier Concrete to tear out, replace and enlarge our driveway with a LEVEL surface for a sports court. We agreed to a 1/2 inch drop per 8 feet, which required raising driveway by 12-18 inches and a county exception, if needed, due to code requirements. In addition they were to replace the sidewalk and front porch. This quickly became the sports court that NEVER happened. The issues we had were that the Actual drop once new driveway was poured is 16 inches versus 1.5 inches over a 20 feet span. We are NOT able to play basketball and the new drive is steeper than our old drive. From the 3 point line, it’s like shooting on 8 1/2 foot basketball hoop! Other issues we had with the project are discolored concrete so bad it looks brown, cut cable line during demo, cut phone line during demo, excessive yard damage, damage to house paint, uneven porch, drive approach too steep and damage to asphalt at entrance , plus the job was left contractually incomplete. In short they were not careful or precise in any of the work that they completed. The workers completing the job were not employees of Van Croshier. All day labor and subs who showed up were asking me questions on what they should be doing. Van was only present 3-5 hours over the 3 day project. On the last day, a few workers walked by shaking their heads at how bad my porch looked. It is also unlevel and does not match the pitch of the previous porch, leaving a very distinct gap between siding and porch. We had major communication issues with Van throughout the process. The guy is a complete bully. His response to every question I asked was “trust me, I know what I’m doing, it’s to code”, yada yada yada. The reality is I explained the importance of having a level sports court at least 25 times. I challenged his measurements at forming stage, leveling stage, prior to pour and during pour almost on an hourly basis for 3 days. I tried to stop the pour until Van said he’d be right over and never showed up until pour was finished. He told one of the subs he couldn’t get gravel delivered because of what happened a few years ago….outstanding debt maybe? Van ignored all complaints, because he doesn’t listen to the customer, with empty promises that I will have the best driveway around. I emailed Vicki (co owner)twice and text Van to discuss possible solutions and instead of contacting me back they filed a lien on my home with no communication in response to our dissatisfaction at the poor and incomplete work. Buyer Beware that only 7 of 148 driveway reviews on Van Croshier Concrete were submitted since 7/25/2019. Per Unicourt, Van Wyck Croshier, IV and Vicki/Van Wyck Croshier III both filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on 7/25/2019 and 4/25/2018, respectively. This is a very aggressive and highly unethical business that is not registered with the state of Indiana. Our Advice would be to run! This “company” is highly unprofessional, has no integrity, and does not stick by their work.

We were very pleased with how everything worked out. Van gave helpful suggestions and made sure the driveway would be customized to our needs. He was on time, gave attention to detail, was on site for the project, and made sure our yard was left neat and tidy. He was polite, personable and went out if his way to answer any questions we had. Van suggested options for our walkway that enhanced the look of our home. The new driveway gives our home great curb appeal too! We would highly recommend Van Croshier Concrete.

Very accommodating and forthcoming with information. Van is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in his trade. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted and Van was able to help guide me through the design process. The pricing was reasonable, and the quote was thorough and simple to breakdown the different line items and pricing tiers (i.e. brushed, textured, and stamped concrete). Once I agreed to the quote Vicki scheduled the work to be done. She was even able to move the installation date up per my request. Van and his crew were extremely respectful and hard working. My concrete patio and walkway are beautiful and I would definitely recommend Van Croshier Concrete to anyone looking for concrete work.

I hired them to install a driveway. They broke through the gas line and brought their own guy out to fix it. I still smelled gas leaking after the repair and had to hire my own guy to fix the leak. After the put the driveway in, water was ponding next to it, where it never had before. They told me to dig a trench. Four years later, the driveway is crumbling on the surface. I left several messages wanting to stop it from deteriorating more and they didn't call back. They finally picked up once and asked me to send pictures, but never responded.
Response from Van Croshier Concrete
"The reason for the damage on the driveway was heavy salting. We told her not to let salt sit on the driveway. The gas line was improperly installed, encased in concrete that we were not told about. The property was marked for locations of underground utilities. We had a licensed repairman fix the problem. If there was a gas smell after the repair, why weren’t we contacted about it until 5 years later? When we left the job 5 years ago, she was extremely happy with the work and many neighbors gave us compliments on the work."

Wonderful! When Van came to give us a quote, my husband and I had a loose idea of what we wanted. Van enthusiastically gave us ideas, and swayed us from some not so good ones. We received a quote within days. He also helped us pick an appropriate stamp and color after both of our choices were not going to be so great for our home's brick pattern and color (he really helped us a lot!). We are contacting him soon about paving our back patio!

They came a week earlier and the work done was excellent. The quoted work footage was more than the other quotes we obtained at a cheaper price. The workers where friendly and helpful with the questions we asked.

We are extremely pleased with the work we had completed by Van Croshier Concrete. We had our driveway completely removed and replaced. They were very prompt to reply to our request for an estimate and we felt their price was competitive. We very much appreciated that Van himself was on the job most of the time and does a good bit of the work himself. His has a terrific support group of guys that work together extremely well to get the job done. You can tell that they know the high standards that are expected. They showed up on time every day and went right to work. They were very careful around the property did a very thorough job of cleaning up. I would absolutely hire them again and highly recommend!

Honestly, it went as well as could be hoped. I'm super happy with the work. Quoting: I got quotes from 7 companies. Van showed up on time. He was obviously an expert and not just a salesman. He was pleasant to talk to and even helped me to expand on my ideas for a better end result. Definitely seemed like exactly the company I was looking for. The price I got back was not the absolute lowest but it was very competitive (below the mean of the 7). Communication/Scheduling: Multiple people were communicating with me via email and text. I was able to keep in touch on a regular basis navigating weather, illness, pattern choices, color choices, work start, invoicing. The work: They were able to tear out my old patio and sidewalk, level my hilly yard, pour the new concrete, stamp it, seal it. I didn't expect them to completely avoid killing the flowers that came up next to the old patio but they did. I ended up with exactly what I wanted. The patio is beautiful and integrated in my sidewalks. Follow-Up: Obviously there's some yard destruction when you're leveling things and using heavy equipment. Van was ready with referrals to landscaping companies which could help make things right. What could be improved: Choosing a stamp is pretty easy. Choosing 2 colors which will interact is a bit difficult. I ended up having to search online for examples posted by others on how base color X will look when mixed with release color Y.

Van Croshier Concrete replaced our driveway and service walk. The new service walk is 1 foot wider, and the step up to the porch is slightly lower to remedy the gap that had formed between the walk and the porch. They also caulked a crack in our front porch and in a corner block of the house. We were very happy with all aspects of the work, starting with the very detailed estimate provided by Vicki and Van Sr and continuing with the excellent work done by Van Jr. and his team. A few positive points that we particularly appreciated were the following: 1) Prior to the work beginning, Vicki promptly responded to my emails regarding concerns about the weather and other factors. The work actually started a few days ahead of schedule, which was very helpful to us. 2) The owners and workers were respectful and thorough in responding to our questions throughout the job. 3) The work is of excellent quality with attention to detail and neatness. 4) The team worked efficiently without wasting time. It seems that each team member had his assigned specialty, so everyone was very competent. 5) They did a bit extra without additional charge, caulking other blocks around the base of the house that were not included in the estimate. We’re grateful for this extra service. 6) Finally, we were grateful that Van Croshier Concrete made the whole process easy on us. We did not have to call to get the building permit or arrange for the utilities to flag the property. They took care of all that for us. Thanks very much for a job well done!

We absolutely love our Van Croshier driveway. We got several quotes, and though Van's was not the cheapest, neither was the quality of the work. The driveway is honestly beautiful. Compliments from neighbors are frequent. The crew were very hard working and great to have at our home. The driveway completely changed our home, both in looks and function. Do not skimp on a project that is so important; hire Van Croshier and you'll be happy with your investment. Probably the best money I've ever spent. .

I will start by saying I am not 100% perfect-- Van Croshier was the first of several estimates I collected and they did wait patiently for me to make a decision. They both came out and spent considerable time talking to me as they measured, and their estimate was very detailed-- more so than any other I got. The price was not all that different from the prices I received from other reputable companies, but their helpfulness and detail prior to my signing the contract really sealed the deal for me. They were not able to do the work right away but that was okay as I was going to need to have some trees cut back first. We set a date for mid-September. Tree work was supposed to be completed a week earlier. Trying to communicate with Vicki at Van Croshier over the summer was a real challenge. For some reason her emails would not come through and she wasn't always easily reachable by phone, so there was some frustration on both ends but I thought we got it worked out. A week before the work was scheduled I received a call asking if they could come prior to the time the tree work was going to be done. They offered to cut back the tree in question and said they were experienced at doing this. They did cut the tree back so that they were able to do the work but it really doesn't look much like a fir tree anymore. I have a steep yard and when they measured I was told they wouldn't regrade the yard. They offered to bury the downspout in their original estimate, however between the time they gave me the estimate and the time they were supposed to do the work I had issues with other buried downspouts and it seemed problematic to bury one under the sidewalk so that change was made. I didn't realize that that this led to the sidewalk and driveway being raised above the flowerbeds instead of flush against them and the yard so that when it rained the front flowerbeds flooded and the dirt pushed up against the driveway eroded, leaving a dangerously high dropoff where more than one person fell and tripped. I had to pay to move my downspout from where it was located to the opposite side of my porch in order to keep my flowerbeds from getting swamped. I also didn't realize that putting in the sidewalk would require heavy equipment in my front yard that would leave a big chunk of it a muddy mess. I had to pay for a significant amount of dirt and seed in order to fix this. Just a few weeks after the driveway was installed (and it is really well done, and has received many compliments) I noticed chipping and scraping. I emailed Vicki with photos and did not hear back. I thought maybe we were once again having email problems so after not hearing from her for several weeks I attempted to send it to her again and called to confirm the receipt of the email. I got an answering machine and didn't hear back. The emails didn't bounce back either time. I did not follow through further at that time but planned to once summer came along. I wanted to preserve the driveway as much as possible and I have not used salt on it -- it does not receive heavy use. However, I noticed a crack in the new sidewalk this week and upon a closer inspection there is also a long crack along the corner of the driveway, in addition to some of the chipping on the surface. I called VIcki and am hoping to hear back from her soon to finally clear this up. To explain the ratings I gave for this, I'd have started by giving Van Croshier an A, but the communication issues and the extra expenses I incurred in the aftermath of this project have been really frustrating, and I would really like to hear from them regarding the issues with the driveway and sidewalk, which are still not even a year old. Had communication not been so problematic I would have given a much higher rating.
Response from Van Croshier Concrete
"We did have some email problems because I was not getting your emails, and you had to give me a different email address that worked fine. I apologize for not responding in a timely way. Van and I will stop out and discuss with you what we can do to make this right."

The team tore out the existing cracked driveway during the first day and took away all the debris. The second day they formed and poured two thirds of the new driveway. On the third day they made all the cuts in the section they poured on the previous day. They also poured the remaining section closer to the road and put in all the required groves as per city code. On the fourth day they made the final cuts and cleaned up. Throughout the job they communicated very well their progress and plans. This is a family business, not a large corporation. Consequently, they were very conscientious about their work and skilled in what they do. They were not the cheapest bidders but I could tell they would deliver the best quality. And I was right. The stress joint are cut rather than indented. This make the driveway very smooth. I love my new driveway.

very good. ..any mistakes made was quickly & professionally taken care of. ...They made sure everything was done to my satisfaction. Foreman kept me informed on what was being done & why. Only complaint was some deep tire ruts left in the lawn. I'm sure if I had noticed them before they left, they would have taken care of them. And, when I saw a worker putting gravel in my flower bed, I stopped him. I thought he was going to remove it but later found he just covered over it with dirt., that was a little upsetting. ….. I really like the type of sealer they put on the concrete.

It went fine. They were very detailed in their estimate, to the point of explaining how they'd re-route my gutter drains. They worked with me to schedule around my other home remodeling projects. They were courteous and responsive by email and phone. He even offered to carve out a section for my son to put his name (other) in the new concrete- very friendly! The price was competitive with other bids I got.

Having worked with a number of service providers over the years, I would say that Van Croshier was one of my all-time favorites. They were punctual to quote, flexible throughout the project and the driveway was completed on-time. The job site was cleaned up each day. Notably, Van Croshier only asked for a modest increase in the quote which was due to an unexpected zoning requirement. We thought this was fair. Besides, the project required more aggregate and ultimately resulted in more square footage of driveway and no additional funding was requested. Little Van (son of the owners) lead the construction and has a very calming demeanor stating on more than one occasion "we will make it right". The prints were complex and there were some details on the prints that he recommended against based upon experience, so it was important to check on progress every day. It was a pleasure and several months later the drainage off the driveway is flawless.

Van Croshier Concrete did an excellent job on our driveway extension. They were extremely professional, listened to our requests and gave additional suggestions. Their team arrived on time once the project was selected and cleaned up their work daily. Their quote for the work was fair and met our expectations with the finished product...they even worked hard to get the job done timely for us. We would highly recommend and use them agin in the future with other concrete needs. Thank Van Croshier Concrete, we can now get our boys parked in the driveway with plenty of room!

Project was done in two phases. Van and Vicki worked hard to schedule job to meet requirements of a home tour. Entire project done very well. Crew on site for a total of about 10 days; large job. High attention to detail with exceptional results. Family business and crew has been with them for a long time. Clean up and care was great. Job was not inexpensive but you always get what you pay for. I had three quotes and Croshier was best for what we wanted. Highly recommend.
