"Eads gave us a solution that another company could not. Our roof didn't need replacing, which is what the other company wanted to do, but it did need the water leak repaired and I wanted to improve ventilation in another area of the roof. The initial response was very good and Chase rearranged his schedule to meet with me right away and discuss my problems. The work was high quality, in my opinion, and I'm confident we made the right choice going with Eads Roofing. There were some delays in communication on occasion but the work was done in a reasonable amount of time and everyone was great to work with."

"Perfection metal roofing replaced my old and damaged roof with a brand new metal roof that looks fantastic and functions great. Their customer service was excellent and the price they gave me was less than half of what comparable contractors were quoting me!"

"The crew showed up first thing in the morning. Took them 2-3 hours to remove the old roof and repair several pieces of roof decking. New metal roofing was installed and it looks great. They had to come back in the morning for a few hours to finish. All the guys were very professional and did a great job. Very happy with the work. Pricing was very competitive with the other appraisals."

"Pyramids roofing contacted me within five minutes of my request for repairs and cleaning of my siding on my two-story house. The owner showed up the following day. We walked around the house together as I pointed out everything that needed done and he wrote up a very fair cost estimate. They showed up a few days later. They did all of the work in one day and even went above and beyond what I asked by power washing my back patio. These guys were super professional and transparent. I would highly recommend using pyramids roofing for all of your exterior needs. In fact, I recently found out they also do the interior painting, etc.. I will be using them again in the very near future!! Super good people!!!!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Skipping the installation of a drip edge or gutter apron can lead to significant water damage. Without this component, water is more likely to seep under roofing materials or leak behind gutters, damaging the fascia, soffits, siding, and even the interior of your home, such as the attic. Over time, this moisture can cause rot, mold, and deterioration. In colder climates, a missing drip edge also increases the risk of ice dams, which can lead to expensive repairs. A drip edge is an essential part of a roof's drainage system, and some local building codes may even require its installation to protect the home from water damage.

You’re going to need a permit for nearly every roof-raising project. This is a very important step, as the work you’re doing has serious safety considerations. Professionals are the ones to handle this type of work—including sourcing the permits—as they have the expertise required to perform the work safely. Insurance and warranty are usually voided if you do this work without a permit, and you may even be required to halt construction and tear it down as a penalty for working without a building permit.

The lifespan of a torch down roof depends on the number of layers installed. A single-ply system typically lasts between 10 and 15 years, while a multi-layer system with two or three layers can last from 15 to 25 years. Although a multi-layer option may be more expensive upfront, it provides a longer service life. Warranties often reflect this, with about 12 years for a one-ply system and 15 years for a two-ply system. For context, this lifespan is shorter than other common roofing materials like wood or asphalt shingles, which typically last 20 to 30 years, with high-quality versions lasting up to 50 years.

The level of underlayment’s water resistance will depend on the type of underlayment. The most popular underlayment, felt, is water-resistant, but it can’t withstand long direct exposure to rain or the elements.

Synthetic underlayment is more waterproof, but asphalt is the only fully waterproof type of underlayment.

Asphalt shingles, wooden shakes, and slate or clay roofing tiles are often replaceable without having to replace the entire roof. It's possible to replace just a few shingles or tiles without much trouble in the case of wind damage or other minor problems. DIYers can perform the task in some situations. However, professional repair is always the best bet when it comes to roofing.
