"We replaced 9 Rockwell wood casement windows (20 sashes total) that were peeling and rotted. We chose the Alside casement window with the upgrade Therm D glass. Mark Fadely, the owner of the company, was very responsive to all my inquiries. Several of my neighbors had used Fadely for window replacement and that was a big plus. Most window replacements use aluminum trim on he exterior around the actual vinyl window. This replaces the previous wood molding and provides a smooth transition to the brick or siding of the house. Fadely's installers made the aluminum trim look exactly like the previous wood molding. The workmanship of installers Dan and Tim was very impressive. On the interior the installers put a poplar jamb extension between the window and my existing trim. No existing trim had to be removed or damaged in any way! After installation of the window, a painting crew arrived to repaint the interior trim and jamb extension. You really cannot tell if the window was original to the house or not! We received several price quotes for the window job. Fadely was cheaper than any of these quotes. They were even less than the quotes we had to repair the windows! Bottom Line; We have a quality, custom built home and chose Fadely to replace our damaged wood windows with a good quality mid-range Alside window. We would recommend Fadely to anyone for value and quality. I attached an exterior picture showing the impressive trim work around the window and a picture of the interior showing the 1 1/2 inch jamb extension painted to match the trim."

"After sending our first call, Jeff the owner came right away and gave us an estimate for the windows.  At the beginning it was very confusing because we were dealing with three different people, Jeff, Brenda (in the office and in charge of all numbers) and Eric from the Pella company.  It seemed to me that the three of them did not communicate well.   A much better approach for everyone, I believe,  will be if one person will be in charge of one costumer.  Eventually everything was cleared up and the work began.  The windows were done by a different person (I believe a sub-contractor).  He was very efficient and in two days he replaced all  windows. He left without noticing some imperfections.  We needed to contact Jeff to inform them that a few screens were broken, sealing missing, one window was made incorrect etc.  We felt, in part, we did the work of the contractor.   One moth later the company Pella came and fixed all problems.  It seems to me that the company needs more people working and in charge of the work to be done.
The windows look great now however the reason we picked JD Hostetter, instead of Lowes or Home Depot for example, was to get a better costumer services.  In that respect they were somewhat disappointing.

"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

We're two owners with 20 years of combined home improvement experience.\n\nWe started this company because we got tired of watching contractors take advantage of homeowners. Our inspectors aren't commission-based, and our No Upsell Guarantee includes shingle, ventilation, and warranty upgrades, so the price we quote is the price you pay. We also handle storm damage insurance claims start to finish.\n\nWindows: We sell and install Pella and Alside windows, so you can get Pella windows through us without finding a separate company. Our window team has completed hundreds of window projects across central Indiana. We measure, show you the real options at each price point, and leave. No four-hour demo, no today-only pricing. If a repair beats a replacement, we'll tell you.

"They did a great job. They were professional, quick, dependable and completely reliable on the times that they said they would come. They cleaned up their mess really well. They found a few unexpected things with the trim work on the windows, so they called and explained to us what they could do to make it right. They did it without charging anything extra. They did not try and jerry-rig it to get it in the original cost or anything like that. They did the work correctly, and everything has been working well. We would use them again in the future if necessary."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to repair a damaged or cracked mirror, but whether you should do it yourself depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small chips, cracks, and scratches, you can use a DIY approach. Resin-based repair kits can fix minor cracks, while scratches can often be removed with metal polish, nail polish, baking soda, or a glass polisher. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the best results.

However, for more significant damage, DIY repair is not recommended. Repairing and resilvering mirrors is a delicate process that can involve caustic chemicals and requires a high level of precision. The materials for a DIY attempt can cost over $100, which may not be a significant saving compared to hiring a professional. Since a failed attempt could result in more damage and higher repair costs, it is often better to hire a mirror repair expert from the start, especially for large, valuable, or extensively damaged mirrors.

Costs range from $150 to $500, depending on size, framing, and labor.

The methods outlined here are intended for surface scratches—ones that don’t cut into the glass very deeply. For deep scratches, you should consider a more comprehensive glass scratch repair kit. These kits come with abrasives, polishing compounds, and specialized tools designed for removing deep scratches from glass. If you feel uncomfortable tackling a deep scratch on your own, consider calling a local glass repair contractor.

If you decide to forgo your old windows and upgrade them to modern day technology, there may be some people interested in the old windows. You can try selling them on an online marketplace for around $50 to $100 each (so long as the window wasn’t damaged during the removal). This can also help off set the overall price to replace them.

You can use hot, soapy water, white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, window cleaner, nail polish remover, WD-40, and cooking oil to remove glass labels. You can also apply heat with a hair dryer or steam cleaner. Use a plastic scraper or credit card to remove the adhesive, as a razor blade can permanently scratch your glass.
