"Phil is awesome. He actually returned the call in a timely fashion and came right out. to to give an estimate. (some others had an answering service that knew nothing; some were going to have an engineer come out to give an estimate, and then make an appt). He looked and clearly explained what the problem was, why we needed to replace the sump pump, how long it would take, etc. He went out right away to get the pump, was back in less than one hour, replaced the pump, and the final bill was less than the estimate. I cannot recommend his company highly enough."

"It was more then I expected, I thought over places charged less but they did a good job. Two guys and it took like an hour and a half. They were professional and the main guy seemed very experienced and knew what he was doing."

"It was a great deal and I'm glad we had it done. The crew did the assigned work quickly and efficiently, reporting the results to me and answering my questions about other work. They offered me an alternative for rodding the waste stacks and we are considering it. There was no heavy pressure, just good information and description. It's more expensive than what we are doing now but the technique looked interesting so I will pursue and get back to them. Even if we don't do the hydroblasting we may still use this company for the rest of our work."

"I highly recommend The Scottish Plumber. I was treated with courtesy and respect throughout the entire process, and found they went above and beyond and performed high-quality work and service. Jack and Tom came to diagnose the issues and give me the best possible plan of action. Because of my budget, they came back and re-evaluated to determine what the next-best options were and what could be saved for a second phase. Homer, Bernie and Sergio O. came out for multiple days of hard, messy work - much of it in the rain. They were on time, communicative, and answered all the questions I had throughout the process. Best of all, they completed the work and did it really well. I have had terrible experiences in the past, to say the least, and was very nervous throughout this process - but these guys did right by me and my home, and I will be a loyal customer for it."

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

If you have a small well or a particularly high water demand, it’s possible to overuse your well. How quickly a well replenishes depends on its water source. In this case, you may want to purchase a water storage tank that you can fill from the well in off-hours, or if you’re planning to build a new well and you expect a large water demand, you may want to build a deeper well to match your needs.

Several signs can indicate a faulty well pump pressure switch. These include your pump running continuously, the pump not turning on at all, or a sudden and complete loss of water. Other symptoms are weak water pressure or an erratic, unpredictable water flow from your fixtures. If you notice these issues, the pressure switch may be the cause. Testing the switch can help diagnose the problem. A faulty switch will likely need to be repaired or replaced. If the issue is more complex, it's best to consult a professional well technician to ensure your water supply is restored correctly.

Why is my irrigation pump not pulling water?

There are a few reasons your irrigation pump isn’t pulling in water. You could have a clogged suction filter. You may have not properly primed your pump so air got stuck somewhere in the system. Your pump also won’t work properly if it has faulty or damaged pump components, like a pump motor or pressure switch.

Age is certainly a factor in well pump failure. The older your pump, the more likely it is to fail.

Beyond age, other factors can cause your well pump to fail, too. Things like poor water quality can cause sediment buildup in your pump. Without proper cleaning, your pump can seize up and fail. Having a dry well for too long can also cause your pump to fail, as it keeps working even though there's no water for it to pull.

Regular checks of pressure tanks, testing water quality, and cleaning intake screens.
