Matt was just a pleasant person...was considerate and patient as I'm hearing impaired...did a GREAT job repairing my pool heater....and the price...including parts and labor was VERY reasonable. "WOW - working with Jaime and his crew was remarkable. They plastered my 44 ft X 18 pool, changed out two pumps, replaced jets, fixed my heater, and spent meticulous detail to make sure the pool was open and running before they wrapped up the job. They were professional, courteous, responsive, and truly cared about my concerns. Jaime came out and gave me a quote the same day I requested it on Home Advisor. They addressed everything perfectly. They also made certain to clean up after each day so there was no mess around since the job took 6 work days in total. The crew arrived promptly each morning between 7 and 8, and stayed until the day's work was done. I received quotes from many other larger firms - all were about 20 - 25% higher cost that JV's Pools. You should have no hesitation using a smaller firm like JV's! I was concerned at first since it was such an important job but was SO GLAD with the decision. What I noticed was that working with a smaller 'boutique' firm like JV's pools made the personal experience and customer service that much better. I could always call the owner on this cell phone, even in the evening, and he could answer any questions I had. Jaime and he lead foreman all have over 30 years experience with pool construction and repair before they started their own firm (I cannot verify this but this is what they told me - and I believe it). Also important to note - other pool companies I have worked with in the past always tried to 'keep me stupid'. I am a new pool owner (I bought a home with a pool in 2010) and the companies would services the pool, open the pool, and close the pool in a way that felt like they were intentionally avoiding me so I could never ask questions, thus always be dependent on them. Jaime and his team did the opposite. They gave me tons of practical advice on being a pool owner - - - and the guy who does service that they work with took the time to even show me how to use the complicated chemical testing kit that i never really understood (I used test strips, but now I will use the test kit). I even learned more about my heater - - - who knew! Thanks Jaime, Freddy, Raymond, Herman and the rest of the crew! Well done."

"There was a terrible storm overnight and my pool and spa looked horrific my pool was green and had a bunch of leaves and branches in it, I was hosting a big party for an engagement celebration the next day, so I was very stressed out, I had called other pool companies and received no response, when I reached out to Marco, he responded right away, was very empathetic to the urgency of my situation and he was able to come first thing in the morning and he made my pool look amazing! He’s a very honest and extremely professional person, I will only ever trust him to work on my pool from now on! He’s the best person you can ever hire to work on any and all of your pool needs!"

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

Generally, it is more cost-effective and energy-efficient to leave your hot tub on all the time rather than turning it on and off. Reheating a hot tub from a cold temperature consumes a significant amount of energy, so maintaining a constant temperature is usually more economical, especially with frequent use.

For daily or weekly use, it's recommended to keep the water at a constant, reduced temperature, such as between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and then increase it to your desired temperature before getting in. If you know you won't be using the hot tub for an extended period, you can lower the temperature to save on energy costs. However, if you use it very infrequently, you can turn it off completely, as long as there is no risk of the water freezing.

Whether you can repair a hot tub depends on the severity of the problem and the location. With the right tools and knowledge, you can fix problems like small leaks or switching out a dirty filter. However, electrical and plumbing issues require a licensed professional due to the inherent risk, particularly when mixing water with electricity.

The best thing with which to clean a hot tub is whatever the manufacturer recommends; in most cases, this is a gentle surface cleaner and a soft cloth. Recommended hot tub cleaners can include specially formulated cleaning agents, mild dish soap, baking soda, vinegar, or diluted bleach. For your hot tub exterior, choose wood or vinyl cleaner (depending on the casing material).

You should never use household cleaning products, harsh chemicals such as undiluted bleach or acids, or abrasive cleansers or cloths, as these can scratch or etch your hot tub’s coating or shell and cause permanent damage.

Hot tub repairs cost between $200 and $500 on average. You can minimize those costs by maintaining your hot tub and keeping necessary supplies on hand. An elevated shelf in the garage is a great place to store your water care chemicals so that kids and pets will stay safe and you’ll always have them around.

Your hot tub should be drained of existing water, cleaned, and refilled every three to four months at a minimum. Follow your tub manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning, and rinse thoroughly when finished to eliminate any residue from the cleaning products. This is also a good time to inspect your tub’s cover in good lighting for any leaks, tears, or other damage that might cause problems.

Using your hot tub manufacturer’s suggested cleaners and methods, keep your hot tub filters clean to avoid a loss of water heat. This will help extend the filter’s useful life and efficiency. If the filter is more than two to three years old, replace it with a new one and buy a second filter to keep around as a spare.

Using bubble bath, bath oils, bath salts, or moisturizing products that contain butters or oils can damage your jetted tub. Because of the water pump and jet mechanism, you need to be more selective with products for a jetted tub than you would for a traditional bathtub in order to keep it functioning properly and avoid expensive repairs. These products also leave residue that can feed mildew and mold, so it’s best to avoid them.
