"I highly recommend Juan and his crew. They painted my garage and 2 story home. Juan and his crew were prompt, polite, very professional. They answered all my questions and as they worked, they addressed all the details of the project, as we had discussed. They kept their work area clean as they painted and cleaned up the work area completely when they were finished each day. They appropriately protected areas and items near the painting that they were not painting. Juan and his crew kept me up to date with the project as it progressed. Juan and his crew were a pleasure to work with."

Small jobs welcome

"Jasmine and Angel were very well informed on painting, wood, power washing, carpentry. They were fast and efficient. The house, deck and railings look fabulous! They are very nice, friendly and have a strong work ethic. Las Mela's Painting is a winner and I will certainly hire again and refer them. Rich and Jan S. in Wauconda"

"They did such a great job. My kitchen looks like brand new. Painted the walls and the cabinets as well. I recommended the company to my neighbors as well for painting the whole house. I like this guys. Very professional and polite. They did a color matching for me and it end up being very fancy. My wife is very happy."

Customers say: Quick response

"I had a really good experience with Precision Painting & Remodel! They came out to look at our condo rather quickly after I first inquired about their services. Fernando worked with me to ensure we had everything detailed properly on the invoice before work started and was accurate on the completion time even after I added on several things at the last minute. He also helped ensure I bought all the right materials and was available by phone when I needed help picking out the items at the hardware store. The work was done well, however there were a few minor things that we felt needed to be redone or fixed. That was not a problem at all for them as they wanted to ensure we were completely satisfied. So they easily redid or fixed what was needed. Omar seemed very knowledgeable in these repairs. Fernando even checked back in with me a few times and had someone else come out to help when it was something he couldnâ t fix at first. By the end of the project, we felt we got great service at a great price from trustworthy people!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is important to wash your deck before painting to ensure the paint applies well and adheres properly. While you don't have to use a pressure washer, it is one of the most efficient cleaning methods. Pressure washing can quickly remove dirt, wood fibers, and flaked paint, getting deeper into the wood than manual scrubbing. You can also clean the deck with a stiff broom and a cleaning solution. Regardless of the method, a clean surface is essential for good paint adhesion. Make sure the deck is completely dry before applying any paint.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

Costs depend on coating type, labor, site preparation, and required finishes.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.
