Here at S&S construction we do it all! Concrete sidewalks, driveways, patios, fence repair, installation, seal, stain,&paint. decking, pressure washing, gutters, siding & roofing! Fair priced quality work. If you got a dime we got the time No job to small or big

"Would give 0 stats if I could! Stay away from Tim. Quoted us for a fence with 2 gates as we wanted, showed up a week later with only one because he forgot. Due to supply shortage he couldn't get another one and the one he had was cracked anyway. So here we are October when the fence was done in May, being ghosted when all we want is the money for the gates and labor costs refunded. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but now not being answered is the last straw."

Why choose Long Fence? I expect you to obtain multiple estimates from a variety of companies, and by doing this you will meet many different sales representativeswith that you will be given various prices. I would press you to please look at other works that have been completed around your town/neighborhood. You have a brand new house and the fence you install will affect the outside appearance forever. I moved to Indiana with intentions of finding a job installing for a company, because this is what I have done for 16 years. After looking at the product companies are okay with putting out I knew I had to provide NW Indiana with better options, and I started Long Fence. My fences really stand out because they are done right with no short cuts at all. I know how to roll with slopes smoothly without jagged peaking panels or large gaps below your fence line. I would love to explain this more in person if you would like. I am the same person that comes to do the estimate, installation, repairs, and your final product. We DO NOT subcontract out our work. Every fence is not only held to a company standard but a personal standard. A fence is a big project and a big cost. I completely understand this and treat every job as if it were my own. I love building fences and I know the love shows through the quality. All my work is guaranteed for the life of my company and I expect that life to go long past my own. If there is an installation error we will fix it ASAP, hassle free, and at no cost. As always, the plan is for that to be unnecessary as it is done right from the start.

Yes, you should confirm that the fencing installer you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. In most cases they do not need a specific fencing license, but rather a general contractor’s license. Hiring a licensed contractor protects you as a homeowner from fraud, poor work, and potential legal woes.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost to install a fence is between $1,760 and $4,500. These costs are what an average homeowner spends, but you might spend more or less depending on several factors. For a smaller DIY project, you might get away with spending as little as $430, or for a much larger project (like fencing for a 5-acre yard), you can spend in excess of $43,000.

Besides the size of your yard, other factors like your fence material, fence height, site prep, and additional fence features like gates all impact the overall cost. Additionally, the high cost of raw materials and manufacturing can all make the overall price tag higher.

Before you hire a fence installer to build you the fence of your dreams for your yard, it’s important to set expectations up front by asking questions. Some questions to consider include:

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • Do you offer financing or a payment plan?

  • Do you have references?

  • Do you have photos of previous work?

  • What type of fencing materials do you work with?

Do you have references?

Are all fasteners exterior (galvanized)?

How deep are you concreting the post?

What is the lowest maintenance fencing?

How will you deal with slopes?

Only some fences require a permit to build. Factors like where you live, how tall your fence will be, and where in your yard you plan to build all impact the need to have a permit. Below are a few examples of when a permit is needed; it’s always best to check with your fence installer to confirm if a permit is required.

Generally, if you live somewhere rural, like on a farm, there’s a good chance you will not need a fence permit. However, you will most likely need a permit if you live in a highly populated area. In addition, many privacy fences in your backyard won’t need a permit if it is 6 feet or shorter. However, you might need a permit for anything over 3.5 feet in your front yard.

Any solid panels over 8 feet in height will require a permit, while a 2-foot lattice top on a 6-foot fence does not require a permit.

Fence installers typically charge by the hour when working on a project. Typically, you can expect to pay around $50 per hour for fence installation. Your project might take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the length of your fence, overall project complexity, and fence type.
