"The rep came out as promised, and gave us a quote on the spot- about $1000. He filled in the three woodpecker holes, and removed my messy attempts to eradicate the bird. He then added several "toys" to keep the bird away- an owl face with metallic streamers, and four little bicycle reflectors to confuse it. Finally, he set up a speaker that broadcasts timed recordings of bird distress calls and predator bird calls. He came back a week later and painted the repairs, using paint we gave him. Final report- we have not seen the woodpecker since. Nice job!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Suspected something living under my house, and did not know if animal was attracting neighborhood coyote. Was surprised to find a pup litter of coyote babies under my house. When I called John he offered to come that Sat., but would be cheaper to come on Monday. Chose to wait. He came as expected, took care of the problem, left a cage for unfinished business, and came back a week later to remove the cage. He was very pleasant and advised me of cost upfront. Said many companies charge per animal removed, he did not charge like that. It was a flat rate. 7 babies would have been very expensive! There was a trip charge and a removal charge. Very pleased with service."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

DIY removal of birds or bats is not recommended due to safety risks and potential legal protections for certain species. While simple prevention methods can be done yourself, actual removal and control of an infestation should be handled by professionals who are familiar with safe, humane, and effective techniques.

Using audio and visual methods to discourage birds might work initially, but birds tend to acclimate to them over time. While chemical deterrents can show some effectiveness, their results can be inconsistent. Some may dissipate too quickly, and there's a risk they might cause unintended damage to your surroundings. Additionally, birds might become immune or resistant to the impact of such treatments.

Natural swimming pools are designed to deter pests, including mosquitoes. While any body of water can potentially attract pests, the natural filtration system keeps the water clean and constantly moving. Mosquitoes specifically are attracted to standing water, so the continuously circulating water in a natural pool makes it an inhospitable environment for them.

No single deterrent will work 100 percent of the time, so we suggest combining deterrents to ensure your seed has the best possible chance to grow. Using bird netting over your seed, with physical deterrents like mylar tape coupled with hanging bird feeders at the edges of your growing area—and removing any bird’s nests, if possible—will give your seeds the best possible chance for success.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.
