"They came in on time, and were very thorough. Bait they've placed is all pet and child safe. They inspected exterior of our home and sprayed repellents in likely nesting areas. Highly recommend"

Steve was very professional and explained the ant situation. When he first sprayed in February the ants were everywhere! After he sprayed they began to be less and less. Now I am on a quarterly schedule to keep them under control. I am very pleased

"After making a few phone calls to other Angie?s List pest control contractors, I selected E & M based solely upon availability.  I needed someone to investigate the animal noises my mother was hearing in her attic as soon as possible, and Mr. Bohlen was available.  When he arrived at her place, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and very respectful.  Upon his initial visit, he explained that he would set one (1) trap, and if that did not take care of the problem, he would in turn set two (2) traps.  He also explained that he could not set the traps on his initial visit because he did not have his ladder to perform an investigation; however, we established that he would return on the next day that was convenient to us.  At this point, I mentioned to Mr. Bohlen that I wanted it to be a live animal capture and release.

When Mr. Bohlen returned, he set one (1) trap and told us that he would return in a few days to see if the trap worked.  A few days later, the trap was empty, turned on its side, and the food that was used as bait was gone.  Mr. Bohlen then set two (2) traps at opposing ends of the attic; he suggested as an alternative, that he lay down rat poison at which point I begged him not to kill ?Rocky?.  For the traps to be more effective, I provided some Planter?s mixed nuts as enticement for the live capture.  Upon placement of the traps, Mr. Bohlen could see where the squirrels were entering the attic.  He took pictures of the entry-point with his iPhone and showed the pictures to me, but mentioned that he did not know how to use the e-mail function on his new phone in order to e-mail the photos to me.  Upon his departure, Mr. Bohlen offered a temporary solution of mesh to keep the squirrels out, but with his description of their entry-point, we believed that a roofer was needed to replace the pest-control screen around the attic vent as a permanent solution.  Mr. Bohlen offered to give me the phone number of a roofer that he knew as soon as he spoke with the gentleman directly, and then he explained that he would return in a few days to check the traps.

Those ?few days? turned into a full week.  Mr. Bohlen set the traps on Saturday and anticipated on returning on Tuesday.  He had to reschedule for Thursday; then tentatively rescheduled for Saturday.  At one point, I called him to ask him if he was still going to come to the house as he had promised.  He told me that he had to remain at home while he waited for a furniture delivery (or something like that).  In any case, by the time he arrived at my mother?s house, I was not feeling very charitable toward Mr. Bohlen, especially after I had removed the clothes from my mother?s closet numerous times in order for him to gain access to the attic?s trap door, only for him not to show.  To make matters worse, when Mr. Bohlen removed the traps, one (1) squirrel had perished.  He was apologetic and thanked me for my patience, but a bad taste was already in my mouth.

In short, I never received an e-mail from Mr. Bohlen of the photo that I could use in order to get an estimate from a roofer; I never received a phone number of the roofer that Mr. Bohlen knew; and despite my desire to have live capture of the squirrels in the attic, one (1) died because Mr. Bohlen failed to check on the traps in a timely fashion.  And yes, my mother STILL has a squirrel problem, which I have decided that I will take care of personally.

I believe the rave reviews about E & M Pest Management, however, I think that Mr. Bohlen dropped the ball during this particular service call."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Bird and bat pest control involves assessing the site, installing deterrents, sealing entry points, and, in some cases, safely removing infestations following regulatory guidelines.

Legal considerations include adherence to local and federal wildlife protection laws, particularly for species that might be protected or endangered.

Hawks might seem like fearless predators, but these smart birds do know what other animals to be cautious around. Hawks are naturally wary of humans and predators that see them or their eggs as a potential meal or threat. This list includes owls, crows, eagles, and even snakes or raccoons.

Identifying the specific animal running on your roof at night can be challenging without direct observation. Common nocturnal roof visitors include raccoons, squirrels, opossums, and rats. Raccoons are bigger and can create heavy thumping sounds. Squirrels are agile and may produce rapid scurrying noises. Opossums tend to move stealthily with less noise. Rats can make scratching or gnawing sounds. To determine the culprit, look for signs like footprints, droppings, or damaged areas near the roof. For accurate identification, consult a pest control professional or set up wildlife cameras near potential entry points.

Removal typically takes 1-3 days. Sealing entry points and cleanup may require additional time.
