"He was very knowledgeable, but I don’t think the bait was very impressive. I would give him an “A” for his knowledge, but I would give him a “C” for the product. The price was okay. His product was crappy. I would not use them again and it is because of the product, not because of the person. You need to just shop around and find out what really works. I realize that mice are a problem in the city and these are like super nice, but they still can die. They need to be annihilated. If you put a product down, they need to eat it."

"My experience was fine.  The owner, Stephen, came when he said he would and got our problems under control with the pests. He came once a month to treat the foundation of the house. He did everything he said he was going to do. We had some bushes on the side of the house that blooms in the spring time. One time, the spray got into the plants and killed them."

"I had been having a problem with cockroaches for months. After attempting to get rid of them unsuccessfuly on my own I decided to hire a professional. My initial thought was to hire one of the big companies like terminix and orkin. I called both companies Terminix gave me a qoute of about $550 for a years worth of service with quarterly visits and Orkin qouted me about $625. So I set up the appointment with terminix not knowing any better, since I was not sure how much I should expect to pay for these services. Before the appointment I decided to check some customer feedback on terminix and it was abismal, just about every review gave them an F and the same was pretty much true fo Orkin. So I decided to check angies list for a reliable smaller company. I read the reviews for E & M and decided to give them a shot. I was impressed with the guy Mike from the very first phone conversation. He gave me a qoute for $145 with a 10% discount for finding him on angis list. This included the initial treatment, a seven day follow up and a 30 day gaurantee. I was skeptical because terminix and orkin told me I needed yearly service for cockroaches, but mike assured me that there has not been a cockroach problem he could not solve in less than 10 days. so I made the appointment and cancelled the one I had with terminix. When Mike came out the first time, he was very knowledgeable about the dynamics of cockroaches and treated my entire house. After the first treatment I saw an immediate improvement, about an 80% reduction in cockroach activity. When Mike came out for the follow up visit he put down c*** roach bait, and informed me that he was not 100% satisfied with the results of the initial treament and scheduled me for a third treatment free of charge. Mike is a very friendly and honest professional, he saved me from beng taken advantage of by the big name companies, and did a great Job. I highly recommend this company!

"I used them for mosquito control Weather has a major impact on scheduling, so it was hard to set firm dates for service. Always showed up once they were scheduled. Treatments provided significant, but not total relief from mosquito problem. Price was good compared to other services. Techs were always pleasant and professional."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.

When woodpeckers start banging on your walls or roof, they are probably looking for insects to eat, storing nuts for winter, drilling a hole to make a nest, or communicating with other birds to establish territory or find a mate.

The size of the hole can help determine the reason for the pecking. Small irregular holes are a result of insect hunts. Acorn holes are more consistently sized and often fitted with a nut in the middle. Nest holes are large and have rounded edges. If the bird is pecking to mark its territory or attract a mate, it may leave dents rather than holes, and the noise will stop when the mating season starts in spring.

If you’ve had a prior bat infestation or simply want to avoid having bats invade your home in the first place, there are a few steps you can take without the need for a pro.

  • Seal entry points, such as where your chimney meets your house, or other gaps or holes exist.

  • Use bat deterrents like bright lights or ultrasonic devices to force them away from your home.

  • Reduce bat attractions like standing water and bird nectar feeders inviting bats into your yard.

It's advisable to avoid using harmful methods to eliminate birds. Poisoning birds is inhumane and can have unintended ecological consequences, affecting other wildlife and pets. Similarly, using firearms or other lethal means poses safety risks and could be illegal in many areas. Sticky substances like adhesives can cause birds to become trapped and injured. Lastly, playing excessively loud or distressing noises can stress birds and humans. Focusing on humane and environmentally responsible strategies is essential when dealing with bird issues.

Numerous predators kill hornets, including frogs, birds, lizards, bats, spiders, and hedgehogs. Some larger predators, including rats, skunks, and racoons, will occasionally attack a hornet nest in order to eat the larvae inside. These natural predators typically don’t eat enough hornets to make them an effective form of hornet control.
