"We wanted to get on board with the current trend in doorbell cameras. Got a quote from ADT Provider, known as Safe Street USA, and felt their offer was more than fair. We have door sensors and motion detectors inside and the doorbell camera mounted outside. Nice to feel “with the times” in home automation and security."

"Protect Your Home group with ADT has exceeding our expectations in getting a new home security system. In the end, everything was a breeze and not stressful whatsoever. We tested the siren and our neighbors 2 doors down could hear it; which is what we were hoping for!"

"I hired them to install three exterior lights, by my front and back doors & garage. I had the fixtures, just needed someone to install. Good work at a reasonable price. I subsequently hired them to fix some wood rot by my garage door. Ivan cams in, cut out and replaced the bad pieces, caulked and repainted. Excellent job!"

"I live in a small condo building that has been the target of repeated criminal damage to property. After three cinderblocks were thrown through my windows I got the security screens installed. The screens are very aesthetic to the eye and I have received compliments on how nice they look. More importantly though, they have kept myself and my property safe. Two more cinderblocks have been thrown at the windows and caused no damage because of the screens. A week ago the criminal targeting the building set off an m80 firework at our front door and the door was destroyed. Last week an m80 was jammed into the window panel near my bedroom window and set off. One window behind the screens did get blown up but the screens remained perfectly in tact. Pieces of concrete were blown off the building from the explosion but again, no damage to the screens. These are very heavy duty and they work. Scott has been a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend Midwest Security Screens to anyone looking to make their home or business more secure. When I move in the near future I will have security screens installed on my new home. Thank you for helping keep me safe!"

Security Doors questions, answered by experts

Yes, most pros encourage you to change your locks when you move into a new home. While the previous owner may hand you their keys, you have no way of knowing whether other copies exist elsewhere. Changing your locks as soon as you move in is a great way to ensure that you can enjoy new, fully functioning locks that will work with your unique key or code.

Security cameras do not need wiring if they are wireless, meaning they are battery-operated and can connect through Wi-Fi. You’ll need to change the batteries on a wireless camera and ensure you have a steady connection to Wi-Fi for video storage. If you have a wired security camera, you’ll need to plug it into an outlet or other power source and a DVR device.

Ultimately, the decision should align with your objectives. For general home security, visible cameras at entry points and high-traffic areas are recommended to deter intruders. In areas where privacy is a concern, use hidden cameras sparingly and within legal limits.

It depends on the type of sensor your home security system uses. If it’s a motion detector, any moving thing could set it off, from a roaming pet to a wind-blown curtain. Contact sensors would be triggered by the window being opened or moved. Also, be aware that any sensors placed too close to your vents could trigger false alarms whenever your heat or air conditioning is running.

In general, keyless door locks are considered safe, and their security depends on the type and quality of the lock. They cannot be picked like a traditional lock and often include added features like biometric access, PIN codes, and smartphone connectivity, which can make them more secure. However, they are not without risks. Potential vulnerabilities include hacking for Wi-Fi-connected models, battery failure, power outages, and technical malfunctions. To maximize security, it is important to choose a reliable brand, stay on top of software updates, and perform regular maintenance. While the risks are different, keyless locks are not considered more dangerous than traditional locks.
