"Anthony with ASAP renovations showed up for an estimate for a floor remodel removal of existing and new installation. After receiving multiple estimates we decided on ASAP Renovations. The total renovation took three days demo and install. ASAP employees were very careful and took the time taping off areas for limiting dust exposure. They cleaned up everything and removed all trash. We would highly recommend. We love our new floors!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

New homeowners in Peoria should begin with a professional flooring inspection and moisture assessment, especially in basements. If asbestos tiles are present, arrange for safe removal before any updates. Refinishing hardwood, sealing concrete floors, and updating entryway or bathroom surfaces are smart initial projects. Install transition strips where needed and consider adding a dehumidifier to maintain consistent indoor conditions, especially in older homes.

Helpful?

In Peoria, homes with older basements, clay-rich soil, or proximity to the river may have uneven or damp subfloors. Noticeable sloping, creaking, or soft spots can indicate underlying issues. Historic homes often have irregular layouts, tight staircases, or multiple floor transitions, which require extra planning. If your home has layered flooring or was built before 1950, expect more prep work and possible subfloor repairs.

Helpful?

Before starting a flooring project in Peoria, let flooring materials acclimate indoors for 48-72 hours to adjust to local humidity. If your home was built before 1980, arrange for asbestos testing before disturbing old flooring. Inspect your subfloor for moisture, especially in basements or near the river. Schedule your installer early, order extra materials for pattern matching, and avoid peak seasons to prevent scheduling conflicts.

Helpful?

In Peoria, develop a flooring inspection routine by checking for salt or water damage after winter, monitoring for expansion or loose boards in summer, and ensuring floors are clean and ready for increased heating in fall. During winter, look for shrinkage or drafts near baseboards. Maintain indoor humidity between 30-50% and promptly address any signs of mold or warping to keep your floors in top shape year-round.

Helpful?

In Peoria, watch for persistent squeaks, soft spots, or discoloration on floors—these can signal hidden moisture or subfloor damage. Warped hardwood, loose tiles, or musty odors in basements often point to ongoing water intrusion. Cracks that widen over time or recurring gaps between boards may indicate structural shifts. Address these early and document changes to help professionals diagnose and prevent major repairs.
