"The old air conditioner was installed after purchasing new windows. The window company installed it as though it would never be removed. The prior handyman could not remove it after 3 hours of trying. Ivan and his worker removed it in 30 minutes. The entire job was completed in less than 90 minutes."

Small jobs welcome

"Great experience with this handyman. He installed a new light for me, fixed another light that wasn’t working, and helped sort out a couple of electrical issues around the house. He showed up on time, worked quickly, and clearly knows what he’s doing. Everything is working perfectly now. Super easy to work with, fair price, and very professional. I’d definitely recommend him and will call him again if I need help with anything else."

"Owner, Memo, contacted us within an hour of inquiry. We had a bid almost immediately. We accepted the bid and set the install date within hours of initial contact. We had to replace our closet floor due to a neighbors leak, in our high rise building. After that, Memo sent me some suggestions for what type of products to order at Menards, for the job. I placed the order and he picked it up on day of install. He and another guy arrived on time and immediately went to work. They cleaned up after they were done, and were out the door within a couple hours. Memo answers all of my questions within minutes when I emailed him. He was a pleasure to work with and professional. Would absolutely recommend hiring them!"

"Trejo did an excellent job talking through the project and updating us on challenges along the way. Our home is over 120 years old, and we've come to expect that contractors will be baffled by poor structural decisions that may have been made in the 1970s or earlier, but haunt us today. Antonio worked through all issues with our ancient electrical and soft walls, and finished work in a timely and excellent fashion. We also appreciated how responsive and flexible they were along the way in setting up a consultation and scheduling the actual work. We'll be reaching out to Trejo in the future for handy projects and recommending him to you and to our neighbors!"

"We hired Gabriel to sand and refinish our hardwood stairs as well as new railings. He did an outstanding job! His follow up is excellent, he gave us a very reasonable price and was always available to answer questions or concerns. He's also just about the nicest soul you will ever meet! Would highly recommend Gabriel for any hardwood flooring. We will be using him again in the future!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, dryers and washing machines cause over 15,000 fires a year, with dryers causing about 92 percent of those fires. Because dryer fires are more common than you might think, it’s important to clear the lint trap regularly and have annual dryer vent cleanings.

There are several maintenance tips you should take to ensure your pellet stove's safety and proper maintenance. You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. It’s also important to get a professional inspection every year and install a carbon monoxide detector close to your stove. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

Depending on who’s doing the estimating, about 22,000 to 25,000 chimney fires happen each year in the United States. Given the fact that millions of Americans have fireplaces (and chimneys), that means chimney fires aren’t exactly common—but they’re not rare, either. Since they’re so dangerous, it’s important to take precautions to prevent them.
