"T & C Welders was AWESOME! Prompt, Professional & Precise in both their work & response to our questions & concerns. They arrived timely and created a wrought iron fence other Welders said couldn't be executed. The results exceeded our expectations. Moreover, the price was fair & reasonable. We will be calling on them again & highly recommend them to anyone with welding projects they may be considering."

"I must say it was definitely a pleasure having my fence done by a such professional and pleasant company thus far. It's truly hard to find honest hardworking people in the world today. Did I say how amazing my fence looks! It was also completely before the time frame that was agreed upon & I definitely appreciate that. Thank you so much L & J Construction for an amazing job, well done."

"I have an old cedar fence which is quite large, and has seen better days. I do not want the expence of buyibg a new fence, so I had 8 rotted posts replaced. Illinois Iron Works, Inc. removed 3 posts that had cracked at the ground level. Then, they dug 3 foot holes and replaced all 8 posts into cement. Finally Illinois Iron Works placed 6 sections of fence back into place. They did a great job at a very reasonable price. 3 years ago I started having problems with the fence posts. I had several so called professionals look at it, but would not do the job. Everyone wanted to tear down the existing fence, and replace it for several thousands of dollars. I will recommend Illinois Iron Works, Inc. to anyone."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

The price of purchasing and installing a fence around a pool is dependent on the type of fence material you choose. On average, a pool fence can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000+. Chain link and mesh fences are the least expensive options, while a fully glass fence will cost the most. Having an inground or above-ground pool will also be a key factor in determining fence prices.

The most common type of metal fence today is one made of either steel or aluminum. These materials are relatively easy to fabricate, making them much more cost-effective than traditional metal fencing handmade from wrought iron. They’re also much lighter and easier to install, contributing to their affordability and making them more DIY-friendly.

One common approach to attaching lattice is using screws or nails. Align the lattice panel with the wood frame, then secure it by driving screws or nails through the lattice into the wood. Another option is using U-shaped or J-shaped clips or brackets designed for lattice attachment, which provide a neater look. For added stability and aesthetics, you can use molding or framing around the lattice edges, attaching it to the wood with screws or nails—lastly, construction adhesive works when combined with other fasteners for enhanced durability.

You’ll need to bury the garden fence about 1 foot underground. It’s tempting to save on materials by burying the fence just a couple of inches, but if you do so, determined pests will still be able to dig under the fence and access your plants. Burying your garden fence deep into the soil is an important step that allows you to attach a wire barrier to the fencing.

Burrowing animals (like voles, moles, rabbits, and gophers) can’t dig or chew through this wiring, meaning that you’ll be keeping your prized petunias or your robust veggie garden from being eaten.

While many fence companies and fence material retailers refer to their metal fencing as wrought iron fencing, most of it is actually ornamental wrought iron fence. This means that the fence is made to look like traditional wrought iron but is actually made out of either steel or aluminum. Old wrought iron fences typically found at estate sales or on older properties are much heavier and much more prone to rust than the ornamental wrought iron that newer homes and fences use.
