"We hired Level precision to replace a drop ceiling with drywall and puck lights in one of our rental properties. It looks absolutely flawless! It completely transformed the room. While they were working my husband and I tore down wallpaper in the largest room in the house. Needless to say it was a disaster, the drywall behind it was destroyed. Ruben and his team came through and skim coated the entire room. My jaw literally dropped when I saw it. On top of that they patched, taped, put in a new outlet for us. We are so grateful for this company! Their pricing was more than fair! I am so happy we found them. We will definitely be calling them back for future projects!"

"We hired Paul/PJ Construction last summer and were very pleased with his work. We decided to do another project this winter (rehab basement half bath and create a new finished hall and room in the basement in part of the previously unfinished area) and he recently completed the job for us. It took about a week and a half to complete. WOW!  I am again 110% satisfied with Paul/PJ Construction's work.  Again, his work was of the highest quality and reasonably priced. He transformed the basement bathroom from an eyesore to my favorite bathroom in the house. The work is of the highest quality. The drywalled walls are smooth and seamless; the soffits built around basement pipes are masterfully done and fade nicely into the walls. The floor and backsplash title is even and precise. The painting is meticulous (a soft blue on the walls, white baseboards, and flat white paint for the ceiling). The new toilet, vanity and facet work perfectly. The new bathroom is gorgeous! I am so picky with things like title and painting and I cannot find even a tiny flaw in the work. For the second part of the job, he transformed part of the utility area in the non-finished part of the basement into a new room. The walls were expertly framed around ducts. The drywalling is expertly done. The new walls are plumb perfectly smooth. Needed access panels to certain pipes are expertly placed and blend in nicely. We had him remove a door and part of wall so that the new room and new hall could "flow" into the already finished part of the basement. The work is expertly done. There is no evidence of where the wall used to be. The ceiling (where there used to be a wall) flows seamlessly into the previously finished part. There is no slope in the ceiling etc. and it is perfectly smooth. The electrical work was extremely well done. The relocation of the water heater (which involves soldering pipes etc.) was expertly done. As you can tell, I am pleased with Paul and his helper's work. In addition to excellent work, PJ is flexible and adaptable (we added a few things to the job along the way like recessed lighting in the hall) and he of course gave us reasonable prices for each thing we added. He is also very thoughtful (installed a little hook at the top of an access panel so that our little boys would not be able to open it--we didn't even ask him to!) He is very tidy, lays down tarps to walk on nonwork areas, and cleans up the areas very well. And, he and his helper are very polite. Really nice guys. In sum, my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled with PJ Construction. They can handle a variety of different work (soldering, electrical, tiling, and electrical). This is the second large project we hired PJ Construction for, and again he did an A+ job. We highly recommend his services and will use him again for our next construction project."

"After checking with a few companies I decided to go ahead with Great Lakes Refinishing.  Matt arrived on time and did a great job.  Everything was taped and cleaned up afterwards.  The ONLY negative is that I was told it would take 4-6 hours while it took 8.  But since I was in and out all day that was fine.  The tub looks fantastic!

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

The timeline varies from a few hours to two days, depending on room size, texture complexity, and removal difficulty.

On average, repairing a ceiling costs anywhere from $450 to $1,750. However, there are many variables that can impact the price of this project. For example, the type of ceiling material, type and extent of the damage, and local labor rates all affect your costs. Holes and cracks are less expensive to fix, while structural issues and water damage are pricier problems.

If your popcorn ceiling contains asbestos, you must hire a professional asbestos removal company to handle the disposal. If your popcorn ceiling does not have asbestos, you can call a popcorn ceiling removal specialist to handle the job. Otherwise, you can hire a drywall or painting professional to handle the job, depending on what you need done.

Popcorn ceiling textures can enhance acoustic properties, while their removal or repair modernizes appearance and resolves health concerns from old asbestos.
