Jim was professional and punctual and gave us an honest and detailed assessment of the attic mold problem. Mold was found by our home inspector prior to listing the house for sale. The problem was small and well contained but required cleaning and encapsulation. Structure Dry did the work for a very reasonable cost, they used top-quality products, they were very clean in our house's living areas, and they provided a full transferable warranty, which was very important for our sale transaction. Later, when questions arose, Jim came back for another visual inspection of an additional area of concern, documented his opinions for us, provided suggestions for cleaning products, then even provided a small free supply of the expensive mold encapsulant to be used in case the new owners required! We had a very positive experience and we would recommend highly!

We had some water in our basement over the last year. We were concerned that we might have some mold that needed to be cleaned up. Jim gave us a mold inspection which was free. Turns out we had a tiny bit of mold no larger than the palm of your hand. He told us how to clean it up ourselves and recommended great products from the store. Really nice professional gentleman. He certainly could have charged us for this advice! We did not know if we had a large or small problem.

Jim was excellent through out the process. We got water in our basement on Friday and he was able to come out on Saturday morning, assess the situation and start drying by the afternoon. Jim came back once a day, always within 10 minutes of the expected time, to check on things and see how things were going. He continuously adjusted the fans to make sure the entire basement was dry. I was very happy and would highly recommend him.

Jim Schranz was on time and very courteous. He did a professional assessment, and was very customer oriented. His recommendation was to take a very conservative approach -- somewhat of a wait and see, rather than try to hard sell his services. I have to respect someone who takes that approach, and will certainly use him if necessary from this event or for future needs!

They came out when they said they would and provided an estimate the next day. Because I wanted to start the work as quickly as possible, I signed the agreement with him. The second estimate came in 2 days later. It was about $500 lower than Structure Dry's but what concerned me was that the second estimate calculated the square footage to be cleaned as being about 1/3 greater than Structure Dry's.
When I called the estimator he couldn't provide a reason for the discrepancy. I told him that I was concerned that the estimate covered the work that needed to be done given the square footage estimate that he was working with and I wanted an assurance that this estimate was a "not to exceed" figure. I got very abrupt at that point and told me that I "had to do what I had to do" and terminated the conversation. He called back a few minutes later and told me that he was going to cancel the dumpster he had ordered. This was despite the fact that I had not at that point told him to cancel the agreement. I did not argue with him though and ended up going with the other bid. The work was completed on time and to our satisfaction.

"Structure Dry did not do this project for [member name removed]. Structure Dry submitted a proposal for this project the same day, as always, Structure Dry use's a estimating program used by most restoration companies called Xactimate. cleaning of basements is based on square footage ( footprint ) while some other companies may go by exterior/interior wall lineal footage. I fully explained this to [member name removed]. cutting drywall/paneling at 18" is material/labor waste for re-builder, always cut drywall at 24' and 48" heights eliminates extra cutting and waste, this project was a 24" cut with no waste, this is basic restoration protocol. When we sent [member name removed]a copy of the contract, we said , this is a copy for you to review and that hard copies would be on site at projects start up the following Monday. Well [member name removed] signed it , scanned it, and sent it back within the hour, not listening to my suggestion of reviewing first. The following day I received a frantic call from [member name removed], he accused me of not knowing what I'm doing, (26 yrs experience ) and pretty much calling me a thief I explained the estimating program in great detail, to no avail, basically, he got a better deal from some other company and wanted a reason to void our contract, which really was not the real one but just a copy to review . I told him that he is free to get the best deal possible, and that we did not have a contract to break, Dumpsters were hard to come by during the surge, so I emailed him to say dumpster was cancelled because project was cancelled.. In conclusion, I am glad to hear his project went well and that he is happy, one question to [member name removed], why all the hate towards Structure Dry ? It seems to be a lot to do to get out of a contract that's not really a contract to sign, real bad communication. I do not feel that I need to prove my honesty, my past clients/reviews reflect how we do business . Jim Schranz, Project manager ."

The owner came out promptly and looked at our issue, explained the problem fully and outlined what they would do to take care of the problem. After we decided to have them do the job, they were out within a few days to do the work. They are very knowledgeable in the mold remediation process, very professional and efficient.

The company showed up to my home to take a look at everything. The company was not specific enough in explaining the service. I also felt rushed when he was explaining the service that needed to be done. They did not address all my questions when I asked them. After they visited they never contacted me back.

"Member not a client of Structure Dry Inc, Visited members home on August 17, 2011. Found content from floor to ceiling, 2 ft walkways Thru out home. Took moisture readings, structure was dry with No visible mold in unfinished basement. Member’s questions were regarding insurance coverage on content. Told her she needed to contact her insurance company, she said she Did and was waiting for reply, told her to contact me when she found out About coverage, she never called back. We answered every question we could, but did not know her coverage. I spent over a hour answering the same insurance coverage questions, This was during the big floods this summer; Her anger should be generated towards Her insurance company, for lack of communication."

We contacted 6 different remediation contractors to discuss the situation and ended up having 5 of them stop out to look and provide us with a quote. Estimates ranged from $900 to $5,000. In the end we awarded Structure Dry the project based upon their Angie's List rating, fairness of price, and their responsiveness. They came out when they said they would and did a fantastic job. Not only does the attic look good but they did such a good job of cleaning up after themselves we could hardly tell they were there. I would definitely use Structure Dry again and would recommend them to a friend.
In closing, I would strongly advise that if anyone is considering having remediation work performed they select a contractor from Angie's List and if you reside in northern Illinois don't hesitate to contact Structure Dry. Angie's List ratings are very useful and contractors are held accountable hence contractor reputation is at stake which separates the good ones from the scam artists

Excellent and would recommend again. Structure Dry was highly recommended by Angies List along with a Home/Mold Inspector I know. Jim came out on a Friday, looked at the situation and emailed me a quote that afternoon. We talked the following Monday and I accepted the quote and he had someone out the next day to do the work which took about 3.5 hours.
All in all no complaints. Structure Dry was quick with the quote, on-time for both the estimate and cleanup, flexible with scheduling. Totally happy.

There were no problems really. We called and spoke to his wife, who set up the appointment. He arrived as scheduled and inspected the areas where we suspected there might have been moisture problems. Visual inspection did not show anything obvious so he recommended a less invasive air testing via Cornerstone Inspections (also on Angie's list) as a first step. The inspection/assessment was free for Angie's list members. As no mold was found via the air sampling, we decided we did not need to pursue remediation at this time. We would call Structure Dry in the future if a need arose.

On Friday, February 18, I called another company first, but only got their answering machine. Immediately after that call, I called Structure Dry. From the minute I spoke with Colleen, I knew I was in good hands. I was very nervous and anxious about having found what I thought might be mold. Colleen was very professional and assured me that Jim would be out the next day (Saturday) to evaluate the situation. Jim was on time (in fact, a little early, which was great with me!). He examined the area and determined that it was mold. He examained the whole condo and determined that it was contained to an area on the carpet in front of my balcony door. He was glad to answer questions and his reassuring manner calmed my nerves. His crew of 2 men arrived right on time Monday and performed all the services. The men who did the work were courteous and pleasant and were also glad to answer my questions. Jim was as great to deal with as is Colleen. He was very thorough and professional. Everything they said they would do they did. From beginning to end, this couldn't have gone better. Even have a 2-year guarantee. I'm glad the first company didn't answer the phone!

They were fantastic. The job went wonderful and they guys were great. They came out the day after I called them. He was very thorough and he explained everything to me. He answered any questions that I had and reassured me about everything. They cleaned up after themselves. They even did a little extra. There was a little spot on the floor when they came to clean up. They took care of the spot for no extra charge. They were awesome. I trust them. They were patient and they got back to me right away. They were very responsive. It was a husband and wife team. She was willing to send me stuff in email too so we could correspond that way. They were there when they said they would be there and they were done when they said they would be done. They even left us some unused material for us to do it if we find some more mold.

After some plumbing problems with a toilet that overflowed several times and leaked into our basement, we decided to check and see if mold has developed. We also recently bought the house and the inspector saw some "mold like substance" on our roof joists so asked Jim to look at that also. Colleen we GREAT on the phone. We posted a message to Structure through Angies list and she called back within hours on a Saturday. By Monday Jim was out looking at things. We have some "minor issues" but nothing to worry about now. He said I can clean it myself and not pay him to do it. Jim said "I would feel bad taking your money" due to some spots in the roof but he feels we just need to watch it and it really will not affect the quality of air inside the house. Jim and Colleen were great. Jim could have easily have said that major work is needed in our crawl space but he did the right thing. Refreshing in todays world.

We thought that they were the best. They were very prompt, timely, professional and competitive. They were on site within several days of the flood and did an outstanding job. We called them on a Sunday and they came by on a Monday to give us an estimate and started work on Tuesday morning. We were completely satisfied with the work they did. We had about 4 feet of water in the recreational room and basement and it contained furniture, carpeting, paneling, books, stereo equipment, televisions, wine racks, washer and dryers and also a flooded crawl space. They removed all the flooded debris, saved whatever they could and put it in the garage. Apart from sanitizing the place, they put in some antibacterial coloring and dried the basement for about a week. We would highly recommend them to others. We spent about $7,000 on all this work.

I was very pleased with the overall experience. Colleen was very helpful as a phone contact; she explained all the details and was available day and evenings. The crew worked efficiently; their leader gave me an estimate of how long it would take, so I knew what to expect. The owner, Jim, who came to inspect a few days later, even tried to help me get the furnace to work. I would recommend Structure Dry, Inc., to anyone in need of flood or mold relief.
