"Let's see, where do I start? We had our windows replaced last year by Integrity Windows and Siding. We like the company so much, we hired them to replace our old aluminum siding with vinyl siding. They took off all of old stuff, insulated and wrapped the house, installed new siding, gutter, facia and soffat. We are over and beyond pleased with the work. Howard, the owner has a perfect name for his business, 'Integrity'. He is honest, not pushy and returns phone calls immediately. We could not have gone with a better company. Highly recommend!!"

"If you are looking for a quality roof, siding and gutter contractor, this is who you'll want to call first! Chuck was very knowledgeable in helping me to deal with the whole insurance claim process. He took pictures from the rooftop to show me the damage, which I was able to forward to my agent. He was very good with customer service. He had a crew that worked very efficiently to finish the job on time. They were courteous and respectful. They cleaned everything up when they were finished. They used high quality materials. My roof went from the worst on the block to the best on the block. My neighbor was so impressed with the work, that she hired the M Construction to replace her roof. Hers looks great too! Other contractors just wanted to get the eagle view of the property to see how much the job was worth and try to set up an appointment with the adjuster. Some wouldn't even go up on the rooftop to view the damage. If you want a full-service contractor, that cares about his customers, this one is definitely a good one! I am very happy that my roof was done right, worked within the insurance claim budget, and looks great!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Concrete log siding offers some cost savings when compared to wood logs. Real wood logs require ongoing maintenance that can total up to $750 annually, while concrete log siding doesn’t require annual maintenance. Since concrete log siding exceeds the requirements of most building codes, it can also lower insurance premiums and boost resale value.

Hail as small as 3/4 inch (about the size of a penny) can cause damage to your siding. When hail reaches 1 inch in size, you can expect to see more cracks, chips, and holes, and hail that’s 1 and 1/4 to 1 and 1/2 inches around will cause significant damage. If you see hail that’s 1 and 1/2 inches to 2 inches or more in size, the damage is likely to be extensive and possibly even dangerous.

Siding underlayment varies based on the type of material, but most siding is installed on top of a vapor barrier, a moisture-resistant house wrap, sheathing made from plywood or oriented strand board (OSB), and a layer of insulation sheeting. Having the correct underlayment is a critical part of properly installing siding and will protect your home from water intrusion, structural damage, and energy loss.

Vinyl siding is the cheapest option in terms of upfront costs. The average cost to install vinyl siding is around $12,173, with certain types like vinyl shake, clapboard, or dutch lap costing as little as $2 to $3 per square foot. While vinyl is very low-cost, it may not last as long as natural materials or metal, with a typical lifespan of 20 to 40 years. In contrast, metal siding is more expensive initially but can save you money in the long run due to its longer lifespan, which is often double that of vinyl. It's recommended to consult a siding professional to determine if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your specific home.

Steel and aluminum are two types of metal siding that are commonly used for residential and commercial buildings, but the materials have specific differences. Typically, steel is heavier and sturdier, fending off scratches and dents, while aluminum is lightweight and more prone to damage. Cost is another differentiating factor, as steel is more expensive than aluminum siding cost.
