Small jobs welcome

"Scott and his crew did a great job replacing a rusted lintel and re-bricking a section of brick that had shifted on my home. They were courteous, professional and worked very quickly. Scott was a pleasure to work with and was always available to answer questions and was easy to get a hold of. Would definitively recommend!"

"I needed my chimney rebuilt from the roof line up. I picked a brick that was not available so they chose for me and it was a perfect match to my roof and siding. The team was very polite and they cleaned up everything very nicely. Would recommend them to family & friends."

"I worked with Dan of Zandstra Masonry on a brick mailbox project and he was professional throughout the entire project. The work was outstanding and most of our neighbors are considering doing the same thing. Fairly priced and completed within promised time frame. There was some confusion on payment terms, but Dan resolved it immediately. High integrity! Would use again for any masonry project."

"Perma-Seal was out to insulate my attic this week and did an excellent job. David did a thorough inspection, explained everything, answered our questions, and even told us that we didn’t need certain work that we thought we needed. He was very honest, polite and personable, and gave us a fair quote with some options without being pushy. Luis and his crew began the work two days later. They were prompt, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Luis explained how the project would be done and shared progress photos with me along the way. He even curtained off the area around the attic ladder to contain any waste and cleaned up everything perfectly. I would highly recommend Perma-Seal to anyone who is considering their services."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

They offer durability, aesthetic appeal, and resistance to weathering compared to concrete or asphalt.

Dekton is worth the money for homeowners who want a nonporous countertop that resists heat, stains, water, scratches, and UV damage. It comes in a wide array of colors and patterns at various price points to suit different renovation budgets. Dekton is not worth the cost for homeowners who are particularly worried about chipping or cracking.

Costs depend on material type, labor, chimney requirements, and structural reinforcements.

In some cases, black stains on brick are caused by organic substances like algae and mold. However, it's more likely that the black spots you're noticing on your bricks come from carbon from vehicle exhaust or soot. Black stains can usually be removed by scrubbing the brick with a brush and masonry cleaner or power washing.

It is possible, albeit a lot slower, to break up a rock using water. You would do this by freezing and thawing the water. You could create some initial holes or cracks in the rock, then pour water into the cracks or holes and allow them to freeze (so it's best to do this in winter or in colder climates). Since water expands when it freezes, this puts pressure on the inside of the rock and causes it to crack. You could continue to pour more water in and let it freeze to continue to break up the rock.
