Rob Reese is simply the best in the business, a fair and honest business owner who possesses great technical expertise. I am the treasurer of our condo association and we used AAA-1 back in 2012 for concrete block sealing and tuckpointing work. Our experience is that the water proofing product that he uses is of excellent quality and we were good for over 10 years. Fast forward to 2022 and it was time to reseal our concrete block again. I received 4 competitive bids for the work. Rob's proposal was the most complete, included the quality Chem-trete PB100 product (now costly due to pandemic induced supply chain issues - some of the other bidders included an inferior product), included a few extras but was still the most competitive proposal after fully levelling all of the bids. He included the cost of scaffolding (others wanted to hang a platform off of our roof), uses a very experienced team (some have been with him for decades), is well organized and bent over backwards to squeeze us in this Fall despite a full schedule. He completed the work quickly and professionally in 2.5 days (with a large crew) and communicated daily on what to expect the next day. I could not recommend Rob highly enough. We had a stellar experience and I would give him 10 stars if I could. They do excellent work and are true professionals.

Dan was terrific to work with and has excellent communications skills. The bid was comprehensive and easy to understand. Price was fair--not the least expensive but definitely the best value. Crew was timely, very professional, and extremely accommodating about access to the site during work. Very attentive to safety and worked quickly. Work looks great. Made sure that the site was super clean at the end of the job. Plan to use them again and would definitely recommend!

AAA-1 came highly recommended to us when we were looking for a company to help with tuckpointing. We obtained bids from 3 vendors and AAA-1 offered a fair quote and was the most helpful and responsive team of all three vendors we talked to. Alex was very responsive to coming out to the property and helping us evaluate the scope of work. The quality of the work was great and Alex was on site regularly making sure the project was proceeding as planned and checking in with his team. They answered all of my questions with patience and even noticed a few other areas that needed sealing while they were on site and easily took care of it for me. If you are in need of tuckpointing, I would highly recommend talking to Alex to get an estimate.

Can't say enough good things about our experience with AAA-1 Masonry & Tuckpointing. We had two holding walls with brick that was deteriorating. They power washed to identify which bricks needed to be removed and swapped out those bricks with new ones. In addition they replaced the capstones on the two walls with larger capstones to provide the walls more protection from the elements. Everything was sealed and completed flawlessly. The crew was experienced and professional. Since the work was done this summer, our walls don't even get wet from rain! We are so grateful for the expert repair but also the guidance that replacing the capstones would provide more of a long term solution. Highly recommend these guys for your masonry needs.

Called for an estimate, and had the estimator out within a week (Alex). I received a quote a few days after that. Price was fair - not the cheapest but not the highest either. The work done was excellent. Men arrived promptly when they said they would, were courteous, and Alex kept my husband and I apprised the whole time. Would definitely hire them again!

I have had the pleasure of using AAA-1 Masonry several times over the last 14 years. Whether it be a major tuck-pointing project or some minor masonry repairs, this company is FANTASTIC. They are professional, personable, always show up on time and always clean up. I am cynical when it comes to dealing with contractors, having had unpleasant dealings with many in the past. One of the reasons I keep going back to AAA-1 is because of the integrity of Robert Reese. He is honest, genuine, and is never out to "screw the client over" just to make a few extra bucks. Sadly, that is rare when dealing with a contractor. Robert also takes the time to genuinely listen to his clients to make sure he understands their needs. We worked with Dan who proved to be an excellent person to work with, with great communication skills, and an eye for detail. When it comes to price, I don't consider them the least expensive. However, I can argue that it is almost always wise to stay away from the least expensive contractors. Good crew and a great foreman; they were quick, clean and effective! Overall I consider them an excellent value, and I would hire them again for any future masonry projects!

Great, Dan did a great job recommending the work done, prioritizing based on our budget and responding to follow up questions. The team was thorough, friendly and detailed. I'd definitely hire again.

Principal task was to redo work done by previous owner or tenant on decorative brick in front of bungalow. Also needed chimney redone and miscellaneous cracks repaired and bricks replaced. Chris was on time for his appointment and provided estimate as promised.. He then came with team of three 30 minutes ahead of promised time to make sure all was in order, and the crew competed all work in one day very neatly. To get to roof, had to place ladder in neighbor’s yard after getting permission, and they were very careful of neighbor’s landscaping in doing so. Foreman suggested one additional item to complete, which was included at no extra cost. Crew was also able to reuse some of the decorative brick from the chimney in front where previous owner/tenant had badly damaged some in previous efforts, as it would have been difficult to find 95-year-old brick to match. This was also done at no additional cost. They weren’t able to remove all the damage done previously, but it looks much better. Highly recommend this group.

I took several calls (over a year) to get an appointment. Once I got appointment, Alex came out as scheduled. He was punctual and very pleasant. He answered all questions in a way a lay person could understand. I was prepared because I had done some research. AAA-1 has a very informative website so I was able to familiarize myself with the tuckpointing lingo. After waiting for my turn in the work rotation schedule, they arrived on time with a crew large enough to complete the job in two and a half days. They cleaned up and left the area as quietly as they came.a I was very satisfied and will use them again next year for some additional repairs. Alex is coming out again to evaluate and make recommendations so I'll be ready to schedule work next spring. Prices were higher than my other estimates but I chose AAA-1 because of their references and website content.

We are on the second year of working closely with AAA-1 Masonry to maintain and tuckpoint our 100+ year old brick building. Rob and his crew have been a pleasure to work with. The quality of their work is excellent -- they take great care to match the specialty bricks our building uses (particularly the glazed white bricks on the alley side). What I prize most as a member of the condo board, however, is Rob's willingness to work within our budget to identify and address the most critical areas before they create a more expensive problem for the building. He is an excellent partner in maintaining our building in peak condition.

AAA did extensive work on both of my Chicago buildings in the winter and summer of 2017.  As always, they did a fabulous job, neat, tidy and considerate workmen.  No messing around, very professional and considerate of my tenants and the neighbors.  However, this time they went above and beyond by contacting my neighbor to make sure that the scaffolding was not in their way.  AAA also worked with my painter; it saved me money to allow the painter to use AAA scaffolding.  No sense in putting up scaffolding 2X.  AAA even  made sure that all the painter's insurance was in order. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want shoddy work hire someone else.  Look especially for the company that specializes in everything (that means they specialize in nothing.  You will pay more for AAA but not if you have to do it first with someone else and THEN call AAA. Also, be advised they do quality work so they are very busy.  You can't rush a quality job.

AAA-1 did excellent work, and their team was always responsive to our concerns. I started working with Alex C, three years before the work was completed. Despite the fact that my small 4-unit condo association took so long to decide to commence our project and to raise the funds, Alex would respond quickly to my calls and emails. His evaluation and proposal were very thorough. He addressed all our concerns during the assessment and during the work, and he addressed additional concerns that I did not think about. We got plenty of notice before work started to contact neighbors, wrap power lines, move cars, etc. During the work, the foreman Joe and his crew accommodated all our requests about work times and logistics. When a neighbor's car got dusty from the work, they offered to pay for a car wash--very professional! After the work was done, several neighbors raved about how kind the crew had been. During a freak wind storm, some equipment blew over and broke a couple pieces of coping along the top of our wall; they replaced those pieces without any questions or delay. The team noticed that the builder had installed some glass block windows improperly and neglected to caulk some things, and AAA-1 fixed those issues without any additional charge. I'm sure it was extra time, effort, and expense on their part. But, they clearly wanted to do a complete job. They also matched the color of the wall very well. When they were finished, I could not find anything that they had missed--and I know that building very well from living in it and performing all manner of repairs over the course of 6 years. I never expect perfection when I hire pros. How they respond to needs and problems separates the good from the bad. AAA-1 did a good job addressing every issue and problem in the proper way. Our building got its money's worth out of this project. Based on the quality of work and communication we received for this job, I have no doubt that they will stand behind their guarantee.

Good. It took some back and forth to get the contract language the way I wanted it, but after that all went well. Alex is very responsive and professional. The masons did good work. They were not shy about replacing spalled common bricks. They grinded the old mortar to the depth as stated in contract. No shortcuts were taken. It was obvious these masons took pride in their work. Something that is getting rarer these days. I pointed out some smeared mortar on bricks and they cleaned it up right away. New bricks and mortar match the old well. They cleaned up after themselves. This is not a bargain handyman cash job. You see lots of shoddy tuckpointing in my neighborhood and it's sad. The fast cash guys don't grind the mortar down enough and the new mortar falls off after a few years. You'll pay more at AAA-1 but you get what you pay for. Masonry is an art and AAA-1 demonstrates that.

AAA-1 Masonry & Tuckpointing Inc did a good job. They were professional, fast and observed good communication. I thought it was kind of expensive but I guess I don't really know. I don't know, I guess the quality was good. Would probably use them again in the future.

I turned them down flat because their estimate was three times higher than another very highly rated one on Angie's List plus another one. So, AAA-1 never will I deal with them. Their estimate was just over $3000. The young man who was the estimator, he came, he was very nice. Days go by, a week goes by, more than a week goes by, and I said, "It's been on a week and I still don't have an estimate." Just a lady in the office, "Oh, we're so busy." I said, "It's fine." A week has gone by and I said, "I would really like that estimate." Then, the 19th of September and still don't have my estimate, "Oh it's coming." So, then I get the estimate and it's gone $3000. I don't ever want to see them again. When he came, he came on time. He was a nice kid and they were professional, but they didn't do the job.
