"We have been using the services of GirlFriday for several years (this is our third house with them). The owner and her staff has always treated us with respect and responded quickly to our needs. While we have liked some of our housekeepers better than others in terms of quality of work, they have all done an acceptable job. The one time we requested a change in personnel it was handled promptly, and we have never had a problem with rescheduling. We have referred GirlFriday to neighbors and friends and will continue to do so!"

"This is a review for multiple jobs. We have been using the services of Dynamic Colors for years and want to highly recommend them for any painting/decorating job, indoors and outdoors. At single family house, they have worked with all kinds of surfaces, including plaster and drywall of course, and also also cedar siding, deck and pergola refinishing, staining, and jobs that require some woodwork replacement/fixes, etc. They have also readied the walls in a three-bedroom condo for sale. Top-notch professional work, big jobs and small. Great promptness, responsiveness and cleanup."

"Excellent! Stuart Nyberg was honest and told us of other issues that needs to be done first to eliminate our problem. There's a possibility that his services would be needed once the other problems were corrected. Would highly recommend Nyberg Exteriors! Prompt, courteous and truly a gentleman. Stuart went above and beyond checking out the situation and the probable cause of our problem and we asked for and received referrals for the work that needs to be done."

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.
