"Derek and his team painted my home in 2008. They just completed painting my home again, today. They do an excellent job, very professional from the start to the finish! They completed the painting in a timely manner. My husband and I are very pleased with their work. My home feels new again! I would highly recommend Dr. Paint!"

"Very good experience, Matt texted right away, set up a time and came for a quote promptly. Matt spent his time looking at the job that needed to be done and really listened to what we wanted and didn’t want and gave us a fair quote. We set the job date up with an expectation of needing two days to complete the work. Matt‘s crew were very respectful, very clean, and took their time setting up the job to protect our floors. The job was completed in the time expected. The work looked wonderful and they did a great job. They also did a really good job cleaning up after. I would recommend and hire this crew again with the highest reviews."

"They did such a great job. My kitchen looks like brand new. Painted the walls and the cabinets as well. I recommended the company to my neighbors as well for painting the whole house. I like this guys. Very professional and polite. They did a color matching for me and it end up being very fancy. My wife is very happy."

"Joe did a very good job and is very meticulous in his work . First he sprayed a cleaning solution on the deck , then he power washed the deck . The next day he sealed the 14x24 deck with 4gals of very good sealer . My 30 years old deck looks brand new and Joe has my permission to show pictures of the deck . We are very happy with his work ."

"The exterior of our house was in terrible shape because the last people who stained it did such a bad job. Bee Painting spent a ton of time in the "prep" phase: power washing, sanding, patching, etc. (they even picked up all the paint chips). They replaced some rotting wood and even removed old/unused intercom panels and patched-in new cedar where they had been. Two coats of primer and one coat of stain and the house looks amazing! Bee Painting did a great job and we will use them again for sure."

"I had Dann come out and give me an estimate, along with another painter who was recommended to me. Dann was professional, friendly, and his estimate was significantly less than the other guy so my decision was simple. Dann not only did a fantastic job of painting my home, but he was so incredibly nice and accommodating. I had just moved into my new home and was doing a lot of remodeling. Part of his job was painting new doors that I had ordered and the doors arrived several days late. He had to adjust his order of completing things and did it without complaint. I also had to put his job temporarily on hold mid-way through completion for a couple weeks because my one-year-old had to have surgery. I'm sure that was a huge inconvenience for Dann but he was so understanding and agreed to come back when things settled down for us. I am a particular person and any time I pointed out something small for him to correct he agreed with me and fixed it without question. Dann never made me feel bad for any request or setback. I would very highly recommend Dann to anyone."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Hiring a contractor or professional deck refinisher is the best way to ensure your deck is properly stained. They have the expertise, tools, and supplies to do the job quickly and efficiently. However, staining a deck is a manageable task for most homeowners, and doing the job yourself can save money. Just keep in mind that DIY staining is a long process requiring physical strain, so it may not be the best option for everyone.

The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.
