"I recently had Attic Pro of New Lenox, IL install blown-in insulation as an upgrade to my existing attic setup, and the results have been fantastic! My main reasons for doing this were to boost energy efficiency and cut down on those skyrocketing heating and AC bills—our old insulation just wasn’t cutting it anymore, especially with Illinois winters and humid summers. Within the first month, I’ve already noticed a huge difference: the house stays warmer in the cold without cranking the heat, and cooler in the heat. For the first time I am looking forward to seeing my next utility bills. The team at Attic Pro was top-notch from start to finish. They provided highly personalized service and paid incredible attention to detail—inspecting every nook, sealing air leaks, and ensuring the blown-in material was evenly distributed for maximum R-value. No cookie-cutter job here; they tailored everything to my needs."

"We had ARC Insulation out to our house for mold remediation and insulation installation recently. We would like to extend our appreciation and overall endorsement of their services. Adrian and Eleazar arrived at our house on time and promptly prepared the house for the installation. They took extra care to insure that the procedure would be completed safely, cleanly, and accurately. We were impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, and work ethic. Both employees were personable and displayed a willingness to perform a job which would represent the company in a favorable light. It is reassuring that there are companies which are committed to a high degree of professionalismâ ¦and ARC Insulation is one of them. We highly recommend them for those looking for mold remediation and/or insulation. We would not hesitate to use ARC Insulation again if the need should arise. An enthusiastic five stars."

Customers say: Quick response

"Well organized crew. Supervision was at my house in advance of materials being delivered. Confirmed scope of work and material delivery correct. Crew did an amazing job installing the joists, and even took the extra time to reset the existing joists to ensure optimal spacing. Respected my property, and cleaned up everything. Will definitely hire again."

"Highly recommend! Green Attic is thorough, responsive, and professional. Although it has only been a month since we had the work done, the results are clear. Our house is more comfortable, while our gas consumption is down ~30% and electricity is down ~25%. On the top floor, they sealed all the fixtures and blew in cellulose insulation between the ceiling and the roof as well as into the knee walls down to the level of the floor. There is no access to the attic space and there is very little room between the ceiling and roof, which means GA had to cut through the ceiling/ walls and then maneuver in a tight space. They did a great job keeping the number of punctures to a minimum. They also blew insulation into about 2/3 the basement walls, primarily where pipes come in/ out and there was cool air making its way into the house. James conducted the initial inspection and provided the estimate. I gathered quotes from several companies, some of whom recommended different approaches, but I found his suggestions/ explanations the most compelling. Green Attic was slightly more than a couple other companies, but in the same ballpark. I went with GA mainly based on reviews and James' explanations. Alina, in the home office, was very quick to respond to any questions/ concerns I had. The crew worked two full days. They were punctual, courteous, responsive to my many questions, and careful about containing the mess. At the end of each day, they walked me through the construction areas to make sure the cleanup met with my satisfaction. Just as important, they left the impression that they were intent on doing the best possible job (rather than making the most possible money). With an old house, you are always nervous cutting holes and opening things up. Will you discover something that adds new costs? We had one issue with some old cheap drywall that collapsed during the process of blowing in insulation. GA fixed it, no problem. In one of the upstairs bedrooms, more work was required than expected, but they just dealt with it. In the basement, they ended up doing slightly more than I expected. Overall, I got the impression that they take pride in their work and were looking for every possible way to make the house more energy efficient. As noted, I'm very pleased with the results. We've started saving on energy costs and we haven't even gotten to the coldest and hottest months when the real cost savings should kick in. The house was not uncomfortable before the work, but it had cold spots and could take a while to warm up in the morning. Now, the cold spots are gone, the house warms quickly, and the furnace that serves the top floor seems to hardly ever kick on. The basement is actually warmer than the main floor; part of me regrets not having them do work there. Bottom line, you cannot go wrong with Green Attic."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

There are a range of egress window types available, including:

  • Single-hung: $100–$400

  • Double-hung: $250–$500

  • Horizontal/sliding: $150–$800

  • Casement: $200–$500

  • In-swing: $350–$700

When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.

The primary benefits of an egress window include providing a safe emergency exit, increasing natural light in a space like a basement, and improving ventilation. Additionally, installing an egress window can often increase your property's value.

To find and hire a reputable contractor for an egress window installation, you should first research local professionals and then vet your top candidates. Start by searching for local contractors who specialize in this type of work, read their customer reviews, and examine their website and portfolio. Once you have a shortlist, contact them to ask key questions: Are you licensed and insured? What is your specific experience installing egress windows? Can you provide references from previous customers? Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors? What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule? How do you handle payment?

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

There are a few ways to save money on egress window installation. First, choosing pre-fabricated windows instead of custom windows can help dramatically reduce the overall cost. In addition, skipping window extras, like customized frames or window film, can help save money on the price tag without sacrificing the window itself. You should also shop around to multiple window installers to find the best installation deal without sacrificing the quality of the window.
