"Irish Castle did an amazing job paving my driveway. I was worried about how it would look since it is a wide driveway and you cannot see a seam in the middle. You can tell the Crew has many years experience paving driveways."

"I love my new driveway. Jeremiah is great to work with. He added added a bump out to our driveway and now we can fit all 3 cars. My daughter no longer parks in the street and my son has a huge basketball court. The install did not take long, cleanup was excellent and my lawn looked untouched. Thank you Allrite paving"

"The amount we paid was $600 less than any other quote we received. They were able to accommodate the short date we needed the work to be done to be in HOA compliance. The work took only 3 hrs to remove, re-grade, and pave the entire driveway. When they were done they did a thorough cleanup with only our perfect new driveway as evidence of their being there."

"

The team of two arrived at the end of their regular workday. They carefully began to dismantle the large wooden swing set that had been in place for well over fifteen years!  They hauled it to their truck for disposal. Then the digging started with many trips in order to continue to fill the 10 by 14 foot area with necessary materials. The foundation needed to be firm, solid and level to avoid any sinking once the metal shed was in place.  The two men worked into the dark because this needed to be completed for the shed installation the next day.  It was a time consuming job and they kept at it until the area was level with the surrounding area.

They cleaned up the driveway and it was a job well done. This is not my first positive experience with the Ware team. I know that I can count on them to get the job done.  I also know that if I am unhappy, they will respond to my needs.

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

Asphalt driveways are affordable and able to withstand sub-zero temperatures. The asphalt surface makes it easy to plow snow, and it has excellent traction for slippery winter days. Another benefit: it absorbs heat from the sun and can then help to melt snow and ice more quickly than other surfaces.

The driveway apron is a technical term referring to where a private driveway meets the public street. If there is a sidewalk in front of the house, the driveway apron is typically on the opposite side of the public sidewalk from the driveway itself.

This creates a risk for your driveway to fail after asphalt curing because it doesn't have a lasting bond with the surface. In order to get asphalt to perform as intended, it's necessary to prepare the dirt surface correctly first. The loose soil base under the new driveway must be compacted until it is stable enough to support the weight of the asphalt.
