"This is an awesome company and their service were superior. After purchasing a home in Decatur and thinking that when I purchased this house that the mole problem was remediated. The company T.I.C. was to remove the mold and they did nothing but paint the walls, it was a cover up. I begin to get ill and I called Healthy Homes. Caleb, Peyton and their crew oh my goodness they were wonderful. They were professional, respectful and yet personable. They explained what they were going to do and they tirelessly worked to remediate my problem. They got the job done, they removed the mold and everything else that had mold on it. They cleaned up after they were done. If I could I would give them a rating of 10 star. I would highly recommend this company. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. If you want the job done right, hire this company. A big thank you to these guys and God's blessings. Classie H."

I am a jack of trades independent contractor/ handyman with 10+ years experience. I am not a licensed plumber, licensed electrician, or licensed roofer. With that said it's easier to just tell you the things that I don't do. I do not do drain work, I do not replace electrical lines or panel boxes, I do not replace plumbing lines which includes water and gas, and I do not replace roofs. Aside from that I can do everything else, and have the tools to do so.

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

To reduce AC startup power for a whole-house generator, install a soft start kit or hard start capacitor, which lowers the initial surge by gradually ramping up the compressor. Using a smart load manager can also help by staggering startup loads, preventing a system overload and future costly repairs.

On a summer day, expect your AC to run between 12 and 16 hours. However, this time frame depends on just how hot it is outside and the comfortable temperature you’re hoping to maintain indoors. Assuming the size of your AC is appropriate for the space you’re trying to cool, it shouldn’t be a problem for it to work this many hours.

There are several AC unit problems to troubleshoot, but luckily you can identify them by keeping a close eye on your system. Look out for the following signs that your AC needs repair:

  • Unusual noises during operation

  • AC unit blows warm air

  • AC unit doesn’t come on or turn off with temperature changes

  • Strange odors come through the vents

  • AC unit cycles on and off rapidly

  • Indoor air is more humid or less comfortable than usual

  • AC unit keeps tripping your breaker

  • Fan in the outdoor compressor doesn’t operate when the AC is on

This is a bit of a trick question. Even though the seasons arrive at the same time every year, the weather doesn’t always behave according to the calendar. So, while it’s fair to say that you can expect to turn on your AC starting in late May or early June, it all depends on the outside temperature and how cool you like to keep your home.

Yes, it's normal for air conditioners to leak tiny amounts of water due to condensation. Under normal circumstances, all excess moisture travels to the drain pan to be pumped through your system's drain line. You should call a technician to diagnose the issue if you're noticing frequent leaking or pooling. It's also important to investigate if your homeowners insurance can cover water damage.
