I am a jack of trades independent contractor/ handyman with 10+ years experience. I am not a licensed plumber, licensed electrician, or licensed roofer. With that said it's easier to just tell you the things that I don't do. I do not do drain work, I do not replace electrical lines or panel boxes, I do not replace plumbing lines which includes water and gas, and I do not replace roofs. Aside from that I can do everything else, and have the tools to do so.

"When my HVAC unit went out I called A n 1 at 12:30am, as I have gotten home from work not too long ago. He answer and said he be right there. He came through check it all out and let us know exactly what needed to be done. He quote us too on the price if we decide to stick with him. Since he is a smaller personally owned company he didn't have financial options. So we had to think if over. Anyways I offer to give him some cash for coming out here so late and he kindly refuse, which was very kind of him. Even though it was already 2am by the time he was done checking it all out. After a few calls to other companies we realize we rather pay a hard working, honest man and help smaller local business. Also his price was unbeatable and the quote he quoted us was what we pay no hidden cost or anything. Needless to say we were highly satisfy with his work and his honesty. He was upfront with what was needed and didn't not try to sell us on anything else. Highly recommend his service! And the price was very reasonable!!!"

"Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Mold in your air conditioner isn't a good thing, as it can be harmful to your health. If the mold travels through the ductwork or is blown out of the A/C, you and your family can inhale mold spores and develop respiratory illnesses and other problems. Preventing mold from growing in the air conditioner will help protect your health.

On average, replacing an AC compressor costs between $800 and $2,300, but it could cost as much as $2,800. There are a few factors that impact the price of a compressor replacement, including the type and size of the compressor, as well as the type of HVAC system and local labor rates.

No, heat pump maintenance needs are very similar to air conditioners, including keeping outdoor units clean, changing filters regularly, and occasionally scheduling a refrigerant check to see if any has leaked out. Heat pumps typically switch automatically between heating and cooling, so you don’t need to worry about manually changing them every season. However, since they are always on call, they can develop wear and tear faster than an air conditioner.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.

On average, an AC unit lasts between 10 and 20 years. However, the specific lifespan depends on the type of unit, how often it's used, the local climate, and the quality of maintenance. Central AC units typically last 12 to 17 years, while window units have a shorter lifespan of 8 to 10 years. Portable AC units last about 5 to 10 years, and ductless mini-split systems can last up to 20 years. To extend the life of your AC unit, it's important to perform regular maintenance, such as replacing filters, cleaning coils, and scheduling annual professional tune-ups.
